Auburn\'s victims have yet to get a 1A W

Even though Auburn is off to a 4-1,2-0 start, the 4 teams the Tigers have beaten do not have a win over a div 1a opponent. Sad but true that Western Carolina, Vanderbilt, Mississippi St & Syracuse have only a coupla minor Ws over 1aa teams. The poor Arkansas team that Auburn tackles today has only beaten Boise St & South Fla. So hard to get a grasp on SEC teams because of their awful ooc scheduling, even tho they did up the sched a little this season & lost nearly all of their good games.
Auburn's loss turns out to be against the only decent team they've played on their schedule, Southern Cal. If the War Eagle cries get a victory today they will be 5-1, ranked around 15 & neither the Tigers nor their opponents will have a single win over anywhere approaching a decent team. Mind boggling, ain't it?

Well if Auburn beats Arkansas today, I think they'll have beaten a "decent" team. A team that took Tennessee to SIX overtimes and a team that will be trouble to every SEC team they play. Also Syracuse, though down this year, is still I would say more than a "decent" team.

I married into an Auburn family. I gotta stick up for 'em I guess.

I have enjoyed going to Athens and watching the dogs lose to them in the past few years!

TechJacket, seems like Auburn people are EVERYWHERE. No matter where I move, there are Auburn people there in droves. I sure hope we've got enough to beat them next year at BDS or it's gonna be a long year for me in '03.

I know what you mean. We moved up here to Augusta 3 yrs ago and her ENTIRE family lives here. ALL Auburn fans!

and who exactly has Tenn beaten? Wyoming(the pits of the Mtn West), M Tenn St (0-5), Rutgers(1 of the 2 pits of the Big E) & Arkansas(only beat Boise, SFla & Aub). Tenn lost to the 2 decent teams they played (Fla @ Home & Ga on road). Those putrid Ws sure don't make the Vols 'decent'.
Syracuse lost to Temple!!!! & are 1-5 with a W over 1aa Rhode Island!!!! P U.

oh well, Auburn last rather badly to Arkansas at home, so they ain't all that this year after all. Who will rise up from the West to stop the Bulldawg juggernaut?

OK GTAce, I'll give you Syracuse, but Tennessee WITH Clausen is a pretty "decent" team. They sure would have given the Vols a chance to win over UGA today. BOTH Tenn. and Arkansas ARE decent and will have BOTH beaten their respective share of "decent" teams before the season is done. BTW, some would say that NC State isn't a "decent" team despite their 6-0 record and wins over Wake and UNC. Sometimes, through no fault of their own, many "decent" teams finish with solid records despite lack of quality opponents.

OK enough. I refuse to try to defend another SEC team or their schedule anytime soon

The difference is NC St beat Tex Tech on the road to go with WF & NCar. Tex T took Ole Miss apart @ home & beat Tx A&M on the road. WF is decent as they beat Purdue & GT on the road. NCar is decent cause they beat Az St on the road.
Neither Tenn nor Ark nor Aub has beaten a team anywhere near as decent as Tex Tech, Purdue, or Arizona St. See the huge difference?

It appears to me, the SEC is not strong this year.

Georgia may be one of the strongest teams in the SEC, and they appear to have problems on offense. If their defense were not carrying them at this time, UGA would have some losses.

It seems UGA's offense has been mostly from some very gifted athletes, who have individually provided some offensive effort. At this time, I have not seen any strong, consistent offense from Georgia.

However, it does appear UGA will be favored in the remainder of their games.

My last post on this GTAce and I must say I hate to disagree with you AT ALL since you're actually one of my favorite posters here. Reasonable and knowledgeable.

I agree that TO DATE that NC State has had the higher quality opponents, but I think that UT and Arkansas both will defeat their share of quality opponents down the stretch. I think it's just that the SEC IN GENERAL doesn't play many (if at all) any quality out of conference opponents in the first half, but once they get into the meat of their conference schedule....look out. Right now though, a matchup between Arkansas and NC State would be one WHALE of a ballgame I think. I was very impressed with Arkansas yesterday in their win over AWburn.

Arkansas and to a greater degree LSU are the class of the SEC West this year. Looks like the Bengal Tigers and the Dawgs in the Dome to me.
