Of course everyone is used to this, but I thought I'd point out another example. AUC sports page.

GEORGIA VS. GEORGIA TECH
No doubt now about Greene
HUMMER: Dogs should build around their cool-hand QB for two more years.
Is rivalry alive or dead?
Jackets despise Dogs, but Dogs fans really hate the Gators. POLL
Scarce SEC tickets kindle protest
More than 1,500 should be allocated for students, campus organizers say.
D More UGA news

What's the good word?

Looks like the Dawg fans have bigger fish to fry. Apparently, they are already "chalking up" the win.

Looks like we need to remind the Dawgs again about the rivalry.

I did not attend GT, but have been a Tech fan longer than most of the posters on the Hive and Stingtalk. I said this to say, "I have gone through some great times (Bobby Dodd era) and some poor times as a Tech fan". To say I am still a Tech fan through all the lean years speaks for itself.

Since I did not attend Tech, I have always been a UGA fan second because of loyalty to my State. I have always wanted the State of Georgia to do well against the other States. I have always wanted Southern teams to defeat the Northern teams. I have always wanted the SouthEastern States to beat all other regions.

The above was a picture of my loyalties to Tech, State of Georgia, and the South.

Because the AJC has continued to write material that tends to downgrade Tech's sports, and it praises every aspect of UGA's sports, "I declare this day, I will never pull for UGA to win another game in any sport".

I am not against UGA per se, but I am tired of the bias by the AJC. If there should be any bias by the AJC, it should be in favor of Tech, because we are an Atlanta school where the AJC originated.

I sincerely hope this bias by the AJC will ultimately explode in their faces, cause them to lose more subscribers, cause many recruits and newcomers to the area to see the bias and become a fan of Tech and an adversary of UGA sports. I hope all the recruits see this hypocrisy, and it will cause them to either consider Tech or an opponent of UGA in the SEC.

This bias by the media in politics exploded in their faces in this past November election, just maybe it will explode on them in the GT/UGA bias.

My first, "To Hell With Georgia".

By the way, I have not been a subscriber of the fish wrapper for over thirty years because of their bias in the political arena.

The only bias in the AUC sports page is to the dollar. They cover whoever is doing well at the moment. Ahso, does bring up a good point. The sports editors need a lesson in geography. UGA is not in Atlanta, so why the coverage (see above for answer). Does the Athens paper cover Tech?

Wrecked is right about money, and UGA is having a good year, so they'll get ink. But being in Atlanta is beside the point on our coverage. (Back in the old days (the 50's) they covered Auburn almost like it was a hometown team.) There are more dog fans than GT fans in their circulation area, no doubt.

At any rate, is there anything more futile than complaining about the AJC?

Guys -

The AJC specializes in bandwagon reporting! If Tech was 10-1, then the Jackets would dominate the paper. When the state gets behind a winner the paper wants to sell more rags, so they are merely peddling to the interest of people who are climbing on board the UGA gravy train.

Ignore the AJC, they are so full of crap its pathetic. They are also the paper that has tried to do everything in its power to stir up a QB controversy at UGA. They love to praise you when your on top and put a hobnail boot on your face when your down on the ground. The best antidote for Tech is to win.

DawgByte

Tech could be 11-0 and they would not dominate the AUC sports pages; but, other than than, you are right on target.

Just my $0.02 worth... having read the AUC for over 35 years, I'm convinced they TRY to hide their pro-UGA bias. If you watch them every weekday and every Sunday, they try to devote a roughly equal amount of space to Tech and to UGA. And they probably view that as being charitable to us, because we are so outnumbered by the Dawg Nation even in our own home town.

Still, for Barnhart and the other UGA alums on their staff to claim they "really don't care who wins" just defies belief, no matter how hard they try to appear neutral.

Tucker Jacket, you are brave to go against the theology of this board by suggesting the paper tries to be balanced!

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">This is one of those issues like the radio stations where GT fans hurt themselves complaining about it constantly. That's my opinion anyway. The puppy fans eat up all the complaining as well.
