Average 2009 Preseason Ranking : GT #11

Easy on the preseason rankings guys. Remember UGA in 2008?

"from number 1 in the country to number 2 in the state"

Doesn't matter.

The issue isn't our expectations. The issue is that in the current system your starting position does affect your ending position assuming the same performance over the season.

my concerns are:

a) the players not coming out hungry (see Peach Bowl)

b) the fans becoming too critical based on expectations that were established by pencil neck geeks.

At some point, to be known as a great college team, you have to have sustained success at the top of the charts.

a.) Up to the coaches to get them ready, and the players to ensure they are ready.

b.) Since when have we not been critical?

Good point on b) and as for a), from everything I've heard our players didn't go into that game not hungry or motivated but seems more like they played it with less focus and technique and thought they would win by "throwing their pads on the field" as one put it. Simply put it seems we tried to be the better athletes and realized it won't win a game for ya. Overall though I agree if your team is unmotivated because they are a well respected team then you've put a ceiling on what you can achieve.
