Axe\'s 2nd Annual CFB stock picks

...last season, my firm Axe & Associates brought you our first
annual college football stock picks. Let us review our picks.

1. GT(Buy)-Our firm believed AJ Suggs would be a solid QB and lead
this talented football team. However, the kid flat out stunk and
CGG showed he still has much to learn as a college CEO. The stock
lost 5% as the team fell short of market expectations.

2. WF(Strong Buy)-We felt very good about this pick. CEO Jim Grobe
continues to prove why he is one of the best coaches in the
country. This pick provided a 10% return for our investors.

3. UGA(HOLD)-This stock was already pricey in Aug. 02, but CEO of
the year Mark Richt delivered tremendous results with a 25% return
along with an SEC championship and top 5 finish. Our investors
missed out on the chance to jump aboard this train.

4. FSU and UF(Sell)- We could see plenty of problems with these
organizations. FSU could by getting a visit from the SEC(the govt.
one) soon. If they dig around long enough they are likely to find
plenty of problems. UF is run by a CEO that is not mentally stable.
Both of these stocks dropped 10% last year, we are happy to say we
protected our clients.

5. Maryland(Sell)- Never short the Fridge. Maryland, symbol FAT,
is the ebay of CFB stocks, it never stops going up. Hold on to all
your FAT shares. Fat is where it's at. Maryland returned a 15% gain
in '02.

6. Texas(Buy)- We thought the Longhorns would win a national title.
We were wrong. The horns value dropped 12% last year.

We are proud to annouce the Axe and Associates portfolio delivered a
0.7% return for our customers last year. Don't miss out on your
chance to cash in again. Here are our '03 picks for ACC/SEC
companies only.

Strong Buy:
Maryland-Improved talent, Best CEO in the land
Tennessee-Most well-rounded company in a down SEC East market

Buy:
FSU-The company is headed lower long-term, but we recommend for
quick 10% gain. The stock is in trouble but oversold at this point.
Current P/E suggests this a short-term buy.

Hold:
Georgia Tech-The stock is oversold but still too dangerous to
touch. We recommend investors follow the stock closely. If the
stock breaks technical support at 4 wins, we suggest you dump.

Accumulate:
Georgia-We are not bullish on UGA in the short term. We expect a 5-
10% drop in the coming fiscal year. However, we are prediciting
steady gains over the next 2-3 years. We suggest investors use any
sell-offs in '03 as a chance to accumlate shares for '04.

Sell:
NCSU and UVA-We would really like to take a closer look at the books
of these two companies. We would be very careful with both of
them. They are likely long-term strong buys but you might get
burned in '03. If you are comfortable holding for the long-term of
go for it.

WFU-Our favorite pick of a year ago, he is now on our sell list.
Grobe lost too much talent and he is unlikely to stay very long.
Better value in other places. You will always be able to buy this
stock cheap.

Re: Axe\'s 2nd Annual CFB stock picks

Of all the speakers at the Macon Touchdown Club last year, I was most impressed with Jim Grobe. I would be very surprised if he is at Wake much longer.

Re: Axe\'s 2nd Annual CFB stock picks

Axe, very original. I like it, although I would differ on a few stocks.

First of all, are you sure you have the figures straight? Are you sure the GT stock fell only 5%?
Please recheck those figures for accuracy.

I don't think I would sell on NCSU and UVA. Even though the shares are high at this time, I predict these shares will remain high. If you sell at this time, you will not be able to get in at a lower price per share in the future. These two appear to remain blue chips for a long period.

Re: Axe\'s 2nd Annual CFB stock picks

The general market expectations for GT were low last year. We were typically predicted to finish 4th or 5th in the ACC. We finished tied for 5th. The guy from the Raleigh Paper picked us to finish 1-7 and 8th in the ACC. The perception of season was skewed by 51-7.

Re: Axe\'s 2nd Annual CFB stock picks

"skewed"? NO
that game defined our season.

that and the fresno state game defined our season. the UVa and the NC State game were aberrations, anomolies, illogical happenings, flukes.

the wake forest game defined our season. the BYU game? thank god for hollings .. who was run to death.

there were no positives last season.

and look at the offseason? half our team gone.

loot at the recruiting? ask GTAce .. we were grasping at straws in the end. pathetic.

look at S&C .. i mean .. we have a huge program, they report to braine per beebad and MsTA. they don't report to coaches. coaches go to braine and get the results of S&C for their respective players from braine when the S&C coach has reported them to him.

look at our schedule .. 4th toughest in the nation.

if we win more than 2 games next season, it'll be amazing. winning more than 4? miracle .. ask 2BigT. going to a bowl game? impossible.

GT's stock is a definite sell. not just a sell .. it's a dump. dump the stock and cut your losses.

Re: Axe\'s 2nd Annual CFB stock picks

axe .. thanks for that email. i really like this post.

all those people who bought GT stock during the o'leary peak are having trouble.

i believe that long term stock holders, who have bought into GT as a long term investment are concerned but not as bad as the short term wave riders.

i like the stock comparison.

Re: Axe\'s 2nd Annual CFB stock picks

Axe, thanks for the explanation on the perception of the GT stock. I did not take that aspect into account. I shoud have read the prospectus on that stock more thoroughly.

I guess that is the reason my portfolio is in trouble at this time.
