Ball State

I thought the same thing when I read the story. I mean come on, win or lose if they would have played that bowl game, then they would have had more national attention then ever. Fresno St. didn't back down and they are respected for it.

Ball St. has blown a really good thing for their program. Morons!

The school's name is "Ball State" and the writer's headline is that their BACKBONE is being questioned?

The guy is right --Ball State looks like a bunch of chumps --and their 12-0 record will lose any credibility left if they lose to NCSt or ND.

These guys need to man up...

Seriously? They won't play on the smurf turf? When your Ball State and you have the chance to play in that kind of game, why wouldn't you?! I guess they're too scared to poissibly have 1 one in their record.

Really? An undefeated team should jump at the chance to play a non-BCS team in Idaho for their bowl? I don't quite get that logic. If I were them I'd want to go to the best bowl possible(which I would guess isn't somewhere in Idaho) and beat a BCS team.

I think Ball State had an interest in playing Boise State, but definitely not on their home turf considering that they're one of the best teams in the country in recent years on their home field.

Actually, based on their record, they are one of the best teams period. 35-3 is pretty impressive in any league, imho.

Absolutely.

While I don't completely blame Ball State, you have to think that they'd be willing to take such a challenge of playing them in the regular season so why not do it now? If you're good, go in there and beat a team where they're not used to being beaten and show out.

This is better...I want Boise St, Utah, and Ball St to all lose their bowl games.

How come?

edit: Nevermind, I assume to help us in rankings.

That is an excellent reason...and now that you mention it I will make it my top reason.

However, I hate seeing the pretender conference teams messing up the big bowls. Just because Boise St beat Oklahoma (with OK's top player out) with trick plays in a game Oklahoma did not want to play...and years ago...everyone legitimizes them. However, my belief is that these teams have such weak teams throughout their schedule that they can have off-weeks and still win. Meanwhile, in the Big 12/ACC/SEC/Big 10/Pac-10 you have to show up nearly every week with your A game or you lose. I truly believe that if GT had their schedule this year...as well as many others....we are undefeated.

To be fair, if we were offered a bowl game of playing Texas Tech in Lubbock I don't think I'd be too happy about that either.

Considering that their head coach would probably be busy interviewing for a job at Office Depot, I doubt we'd have much of a problem.

I also doubt CPJ would shy away from that challenge. Doesn't seem like his style.

PJ would never back down I don't think. As many 4th downs and two point conv. (mostly the UGA game) shows he isn't afraid to take a risk.

He would play anybody, anywhere I believe. What the hells the difference. At the beginning of the did the majority of us think that we would beat UGA @Sanford this year with UGA as loaded as they are? Yet we still went out there and beat them with 75 freshman in arguably a stadium with the worst fans in all of football :p I don't think PJ thought about it for a second!

I think it's a pretty turd move by Boise State actually. If it was a neutral field, then it would be one thing. But I can't fault Ball State for not wanting any piece of Boise State on that depressing field. They could go somewhere warm and nice for a bowl game, rather then a toilet bowl sponsored by a truck stop.

They are going to the Motor City Bowl instead.

If they were passing this up for Orlando or something, I could understand. But to pass up an opportunity like that to go to Detroit just seems like a waste.
