Did anybody else watch the LSU vs Auburn game last week? Twice now Les Miles has taken huge risks that have won them the game one against the gators and this one against auburn. I wish CCG would take more risk like these in the game. I think we would have beat Maryland and UVA and be ranked in the top 10 or close to it if he was more of a risk taker.

everyone is making way too much out of the Les Miles call. It wasn't the last play of the game, there was still time left to kick the FG if the pass was incomplete. Wasn't that risky, Flynn saw man to man coverage so he laid it up there, if there would've been safety help, I'm sure he was supposed to sail it into the seats and they would've settled for the FG. People are forgetting that it wasn't the last play of the game, they still had to kickoff which means, THERE WAS STILL TIME FOR THE FG IF THE PLAY WASN'T SUCCESSFUL.

I agree GTfan, that's exactly the mind set I wish we had had against MD. Not necessarily going for the EZ, but throw it to move the chains again with all the time we had left.

There was 1 second left on the clock after that play. If that play took any longer and the the WR didnt catch or even bobbled it then that was the end of the game.

The announcer's comments confused me, too. There was plenty of time left. They had a timeout left, too. Their QB knew not to pull a Cal (as in Cal-Oregon St.) and lose the game that way... The clock really had more like 2-3 seconds left when the ball reached the end zone...

I'd like to see a more aggressive stance on playing to win too, HOWEVER, let's not forget the game against Fresno State and the end of the first half or the game against NCS where our superstar WR couldn't bring the ball down when FG would have tied it.

Good point midatl....these calls only look good if they work....if not you are called an idiot.

You just rarely see the failures on SportsCenter!

You have to know your players when making those calls. My point at the end of the MD game is that Gailey was making it clear he didn't have confidence in Taylor in that situation. If he doesn't so be it. But if he does believe he can make the proper read and throws (especially given the low number of INTs he's thrown), then why not be aggressive?

That play wasn't as much of a risk as people are making it out to be. There were actually more like 4 seconds left at the end of that play and it could have only ended with a touchdown, incomplete pass or interception. With a far from guaranteed 42 yard field goal, the chance for a TD was worth the chance for an interception.

It's also worth mentioning that Chan, of all people, has made two similar decisions. There's the NCS interception but there's also the Calvin fade against Clemson. People forget now that we had no timeouts when we ran that play and a FG would have tied. An interception or a sack would have been a disaster in that case.
