Saban - "How can I be sure that the worst is behind you and you're ready to win games and mentor young men again?"

Sark - "Sorry for partying"

Saban - "You're hired"

Don't have time to read the article so pile on the whiney faces if these questions are answered within but...

1. Wouldn't you want to hire him before the USC game? and,

2. Isn't there an NCAA limit on coaching staff or is Saban classifying this clown as an Adjunct Professor of Game Planning While Intoxicated 101?
 
The limit on coaches is a complete joke at this point. Bama will have more coaches than players soon enough.

They don't already? When they talk about position coaches at Bama, they refer to the left guard coach, right guard coach, slot receiver coach...
 
The key is he isn't a 'real coach.' He is hired as support personnel or some BS title like that. I'm pretty sure he can coach during practice and do film work and all that stuff, but he can't be on the field on Saturdays or go off campus to recruit. There is a cap on the number of true 'coaches,' but schools with big budgets can circumvent the rules with stuff like this.
 
They're probably asking him to greyshirt. Coach Saban pinky-swears that he'll be the guy after Lane Kiffin leaves in 2 years. In reality, in 2 years they'll hire Rich Rodriguez as OC after Kiffin gets arrested, and Sark will transfer to a junior college before dropping out.

He can't actually coach the players.
 
Is this really a shocking statement? Sark was texting plays to Kiffin during the Cotton Bowl and Alabama hired him on in the Spring as an analyst (apparently to completely dismantle his former employer on Labor Day weekend.) Looks like his intel was good.

If the goal is to assemble the douchiest coaching staff ever then Saban is succeeding.
