Bandwagon Fans

Makes me think of a friend of mine who was a Tech fan in the 90's. He bought tech stuff with me and my mom even got him the book about Tech's NC Championship season in 90 for his birthday. Around 2002-2003 all of a sudden he has all kinds of Georgia stuff and claims that he was never a Tech fan and has always been a Georgia fan. Hilarious.

My two closest friends growing up never really chose a football team to root for but I was a huge GT fan so they jumped on the wagon with me. I even remember watching the UGAg/GT 2001 game and one of them cussing and yelling when UGAg scored and eventually won. He acted hardcore... but when UGAg started making their big run, he all of a sudden had a big G on his car and a puppy hat. I was like, "what the...?" Then the other one went and got a job with the UGAg Experiment Station back home in Griffin and all of a sudden, he's the biggest, most loyal, "lifetime" dog fan you'll ever meet (although, he lives in Tennessee now and his uncle has UT season tickets... the other day he had a UT hat on!!! Pick a stinking team, man!). End rant...

yeah, thats crap. In the South you have until the age of 18 or when you go to college to pick a team.

After that the most you are allowed to have is at best a reluctant acceptance of other schools existence if a spouse or a child attended there.

My kids were told who they were going to root for! They are huge Tech Fans!

All of my friends used to be Tech fans.

University of Gay Athletes started winning so everybody jumped on their bandwagon. It's not "cool" to be a Techy geek!

I would love for us to pick up some bandwagon fans.

That would mean we are probably beating ugag.

Gosh, they might even buy some tickets.

Yeah everyone around Columbus (and i'm sure all around Georgia) just like to slap Gs on everything. I end up knowing more about UGAy than they do. most of them can't even name a player on the team.

When O'Leary was coach and we were beating Georgia, you could find a lot of bandwagon GT fans around Atlanta. And it seemed like GT logos were everywhere. On cars, on T-shirts, on hats. Georgia fans were humble and relatively quiet. Life was good. Chan squandered it all away. Years of complacency and tacit approval from our spineless fanbase allowed Georgia and its fanbase to grow into an arrogant monster.

No doubt, our failure to remain competitive with Georgia all these years has improved the perception of Georgia among the public and allowed them to acquire even better recruits than they otherwise would have, thereby allowing them to now become national championship contenders. If they do somehow reach that goal, our fans will have nobody to blame but themselves. They should have demanded change years ago. Instead they chose to stand by Chan. Thanks, guys.
