For those concerned with polls 5 of the 6 computer polls used to determine the BCS Championship Game have us ranked as follows:

11 : Sagarin
26 : Anderson & Hester
22 : Billingsley
26 : Colley's
10 : Massey (They currently have Vandy at #1)

Doesn't mean a thing to me other than something to talk about.

Doesn't mean too much...but...I think you throw out the highest and lowest comp rankings...and average them

Making techs comp ranking avg 19.7; which is 33% of the BCS equation
33% is harris
33% is AP

So AP we are 31 (i think)
Basically, if harris has us ranked 25 or better....we make the top 25 in the BCS....

So that is good! Of course if we beat GW and Clemson....then we could shoot to top 20 in BCS and other polls.

Rodzilla, That is a really good poll. Auburn is out of the top 25, as they should be. GT is above NC, as it should be.

I like it.

People are always talking about the SEC, but if you look at the poll on the bcsguru website, the top 5 has 3 Big12 teams and one SEC team. The top ten has 4 Big12 teams and 3 SEC teams. I am not a Big12 fan or anything (I am an ACC fan), but I think that the SEC bias has nothing backing it up at the moment. We will see how things pan out as the year progresses.

The reason the polls are currently weighted high with the Big12 is because they refuse to start playing conference games until week 3 or 4. They all get all their patsies up front, so there's guaranteed to be a higher ratio of Big12 undefeateds on week 4.

It's a scheduling trick.

The SEC faithful like to point to the surprises in any given year, like Vanderbilt and the 5-0 start in this year, as proof that the SEC is even stronger because now Vanderbilt is good!

SEC faithful fail to take heed in the fact that, while Vandy is off and running thus far, the likes of Tennessee and Auburn (despite their ranking and record) are not having good years, and South Carolina and Arkansas are weaker than they have recently been.

Don't get me wrong --the SEC year in and year out is one of the stronger conferences, but the perceived strength of the conference is bloated at times.

I think the SEC has 4 legitimate contenders this year and that is a lot. The Big 12 has 3 legitimate contenders. The Pac 10 1, The Big Ten 1, The Big East and ACC 0.

As a conference however, the ACC is 3rd best IMO and it isn't even close to four or five. The Pac 10, Big Ten and Big East are awful this year. In fact I think the MWC is #4 right now.

The ACC puts more players into the NFL annually but is lacking a top team. Until this year, no conference was as deep as the ACC (NCS, UVA are killing us). Swofford needs to remarket the conference based on depth or we will get lost one day. And God help us if VPI or FSU plays another BCS game, because they will not win.
