complete crock!! :soapbox: I knew it was only a matter of time before the BCS got their precious little USC back into the title hunt by leaping them over UF to number 3 in the rankings. Funny that a team who loses to a ranked opponent gets pushed aside in favor of a team who lost to an unranked opponent. O BCS thou art a convuluted sack of crap.

GT is 18th

TG, do you really think Florida is the 3rd best team in the nation? They barely, and I mean barely, got by a S. Car. team that aint that good. I know any given Saturday and a W is a W but Florida has been struggling lately and a match up with OSU or Michigan would probably have them at double digit 'dogs. Hell, is UF the best team in the SEC? Nutt has Razorbacks playing lights out right now.

I know Oregon, by BCS methodology, is considered a bigger win then South Carolina. But how in the heck can USC gain.1250 points in their BCS average just like that.

I thought that if USC ran the table then they would claim the #2 position, maybe justified, who really knows. But the fact that they are already at #3, well, TG, the writing is on the wall and I don't blame you, as a Gator fan, one bit for being pissed off.

Also, I would be willing to bet that if Notre Dame were to defeat USC, then the Irish would then vault over Florida.

Yes, they struggled but they won. I highly doubt that USC is better than UF. Look at all the teams they struggled with:

September 30th: Beat unranked Washington State (6-5) 28-22
October 7th: Beat unranked Washington (4-7) 26-20
October 14th: Beat unranked Arizona State (6-4) 28-21
October 28th: Lost to unranked Oregon State (6-4) 33-31

As you can see here USC is no more deserving than UF is after struggling miserably 4 straight games and finally losing 1. Florida has struggled to inferior teams twice losing none of them, on the other hand USC struggled against inferior teams 4 times and losing one of them. Based on this I believe Florida is more deserving of 3rd.

You are absolutely right about that.

I've been saying the BCS is crap ever since an Undefeated USC team was picked over an UNDEFEATED Auburn team. The BCS has sucked for years!

Its a "What have you done for me lately?" world TG. The Gators have not done much at all. Florida has the potential to beat any team in the nation but they havent put it together.

Since Florida's loss to Auburn:

Beat Georgia 21-14
Beat Vanderbilt 25-19
Beat S. Carolina 17-16

Since USC's loss to Oregon St.

Beat Stanford 42-0
Beat Oregon 35-10

The Trojan's are probably playing their best football right now while the Gators are probably playing some of their worst. I hate the BCS just as much as the next person because it's truly flawed but to say USC is wrong for leaping UF doesnt seem objective to me.

Well that is why the BCS is a sack of crap, it needs to take an wholistic look at a team.
The fact is that USC's loss was a lot worse than UF's. USC lost to an unranked team while Florida lost to the #11 team. Knowing that it is rediculus to put USC ahead of Florida.
But I do agree with you that the BCS takes a "what have you done for me lately?" approach, which makes little sense.
I am not really arguing with you GTechstar, I am more so arguing with the concept of the BCS(Bowl Crap System).

Boise State is up to #12 despite the pollsters holding them at #13, so looks like they will definitely get a BCS bid if they win out.

Rutgers still has a shot at the championship game. If you look at the BCS standings, they are already ahead of USC and Florida according to the computers. (Hell, they are ahead of Ohio State according to the computers!) If they win out they have a chance to impress the pollsters enough to get there.

The BCS computers rate us ahead of Texas, Oklahoma, and Wake.

Rutgers could play for the Nat'l Champ. if the pollster would let them. They are #2 in the BCS but #6/7 in the Harris and Coaches.

I always thought that the computers would hold them back but it is humans giving the Scarlet Knights no love.

I'd go ahead an put money on USC not finishing the regular season without at least one more loss. I, personally, think they'll lose to both ND and Cal, with a close win over UCLA.

But, I agree, UF should be #3 right now. What a load...

An Arkansas team tha got beat by (wait for it)....Southern Cal!

Anyway, USC's remaining schedule is Cal, ND, and UCLA. Their best win is @Arkansas.

UF's is Western Carolina (non-IA), FSU, and probably Arkansas. Their best win is @Tennessee.

So USC definitely has a better chance to lose, but if they lose to ND, that doesn't really help UF. UF really could've solidified their position in the human polls by taking care of South Carolina at home, but they failed to do so and USC beat Oregon pretty good.

Rutgers may lose their lofty computer rankings in their games with Cincinatti and Syracuse. But UF's game against a non-DIA school definitely won't help them.

The BCS will always be untrue. The only true way to determine a champion is a playoff. Anything else is a guess.

If the BCS worked, why isn't the BCS format used to determine a President or the NFL champion?

I'll just enjoy college football for what it is and always know that ALL of the previous and future NCAA D1A football "National Champions" were crowned by a severly flawed system.

There is a tournament/playoff at every other level of football. Even rec leagues.
