Wow, the game was a great one to see in person! Great gameday weather(it was iffy going in on Friday). Beautiful campus. I would put the Chapel Hill campus and town up there with anyone's. Really a joy to walk around.
.
This was my 5th game trip to UNC, but my first chance to see Tech win. Patience finally paid off, I guess. UNC fans are wonderful losers. They take it very well. Most left in early 4th quarter when game was still very winnable for them. In fact, UNC fans really don't seem to care one way or the other about college football. No big events or signs were visible Friday night or Sat. midday. No wisecracks to visiting Tech fans. Just a bunch of mildly quiet socials and school-sponsored pic-nic stuff.
.

After the game was the same thing, too. Everyone seemed OK with losing, no cussing, booing, ranting, or fights.
.
This all made me realize just how important GT football is to me and others like me. It made me think that all that booing and cussing that went on during the BYU game had a positive end result. Game planning, and certain areas of play improved, and Tech got a well-earned victory on the road.
.
I'm glad I support a team that has a fired-up and demanding fanbase. UNC fans can go back to their naps and dream of basketball.

I have not been there since the 13 -13 tie in 1990. I actually knew the UNC place-kicker from my church in Greenville, SC. I remember the place being nice with hills all over campus (hills mean something to a person living in Houston) and the fraternity house my family and I visited treated us very well. The only rub on UNC is the left-wing lunacy the administration inculcates into the students. It is hard to find a republican in Chapel Hill, that is until they graduate and start paying taxes.

Virginia is another school that surprised me by their heavy liberal teachings and student body. I experienced this firsthand in the early 90's, it's probably the same today. The closer one gets to Washington DC, the population probably reflects the govt. employee's(and family) love for bigger govt.

UVA is very liberal my cousin went there a card carrying young republican and left a panty waste liberal. However there are many Republican’s in Northern Virginia. Virgina as gone Republican in every election since 64. See link below.
