Best coach in the south?

The only place Mark Richt would leave Athens for is Miami.

Uhh.. no. Miami is not a step up. If you think it is, you've obviously never gone to an Orange Bowl game and wondered why is it that the stadium sucks and the fan base is worse than GT's. Do you remember the Miami fans at the Gator Bowl in 2000? Richt has a much better scenario and chance to win a NC at Georgia. If Miami was still in the Big East, he would have a better chance of winning one there, but not anymore.

BOR is correct, but keep in mind that it is always possible for a coach to make a move that is not logical (from a purely football standpoint).

If Richt's wife wants out, that could do it. In my mind, he won't leave to 'go home' because I don't think Miami alumni have the same overwhelming loyalty like some other schools. JMHO.

Much worse than our fan base. I went to the Peach Bowl. The LSU fans, players, band and cheerleaders all put Miami's to shame. The Miami fans acted like they didn't want to be there, the LSU fans acted like they were playing in the Rose Bowl.

Beamer

for the fact that he took Virginia Tech from nothing to national title contender.

Bowden would have been #1 in my book except for FSU's slight dropoff the past couple of years and the amount of talent at his fingertips in Florida.

I mean if you were from the backwoods bayou wouldn't you get a lot more enthusiastic going to a college ballgame than someone from South Beach. And that comes from a home-grown country boy.

I've never been to the Orange Bowl. But I do know what winning does to a fan base. And the Miami program has been dropping under Larry Coker.

Let me try this one last time.

My dawg associates tell me he still has a soft spot in his heart for his alma mater. I only said that IF Richt were to leave Athens (without being forced out) it would be to coach Miami. He's got it great in Athens. Great town to raise a family in (except for one's proclivity to becoming a dawg fan). He has a tremendous recruiting base and a great fan base, if you're winning. And as long as he's winning I don't see him going ANYHWHERE except, IMO, to Miami, regardless of stepping up, down, sideways, inside-out......

You can have the last word.

Great, provided you like for your children to encounter drunk vomiting frat boys from time to time.

I'll stick to Adairsville.
