That was the best game I've been to in BDS in 9 years. The oline played surprisingly well against a tough FSU defense. I thought Calytor looked great.

If it is not totally obvious now why Nesbitt is the better choice at QB, then you're an idiot. Before the game I was talking about this with some friends, and after the game they agreed with me. NEsbitt was making a lot of right reads. Its much easier to do when your oline blocks for you!

Defense looked solid at times. Considering our secondary is banged up and we had three freshman getting some significant playing time, I thought our secondary looked great. Often Ponder didn't have anyone to pass to in the 2nd half. The defense obviously played a helluva lot different in the 2nd half than the first. So the right adjustments were made which is refreshing to see.

Special teams. Our kick off team sucks ass. We need to totally change this up or its going to cost us a game. When the kicker is the only one near the ball carrier that is pathetic.

Tackling. I thought our tackling looked bad to start out with but got much better after the first series.

Was surprised that there was not more attention on the worst call I have ever seen at a game. Down by 3 with 4 minutes left on 4th and 6, the FSU olineman clearly had a false start and they called offsides on the defense which gave FSU a 4th and 1 try instead of punting. I could see it from my seats, and I don't know how the ref missed it.

Between that and the should have been int by Burnette, FSU should never have even smelled the endzone. The fumble was sweet redemption for Coop and also justice was served.

That was the best game with the best atmosphere I've been to in a long time at BDS. One thing I will say is that a lot of fans gave their tickets up obviously thinking "we are gonna lose, why show up". I was surprised that the lower west stands which are traditionally some of our best fans, were littered with maroon. If you gave your tickets up, you are what is wrong with GT fans. Our fans are fickle and bandwagon types. We were 6-2 and playing a ranked FSU team at home which we haven't beaten since 1975 and you give your tickets away? Blow me.

Ha! I totally agree. The good news about all the FSU fans is they pumped some revenue into our program by helping to sell our the stadium. Thanks guys!!!

This probably was the best game atmophere since 1999 where we actually won the game. The atmosphere for the ND game a few years back was good, but then the refs screwed us and the "atmosphere" went down hill fast. Thanks to CPJ, we don't lose all the close ones in the 4th quarter anymore. Great game by everyone! Go Jackets!

One thing I missed was that the field goal formation pooch punt was one of the most brilliant calls I've seen. PJ got Bobby Bowden to waste a timeout, and then he pins him down on the 1 yard line. Brilliant!

Plus, I think that was when BB wasted a time out because he wasn't ready for a field goal attempt. It has been good to see the GT win the coaching battle in so many game this year.

Speaking of special teams strategy. I was hoping on the 4th and 1 in the second quarter when we attempted to draw them off and got the DOG we would take a TO and come back with the fake punt.

Mark my words, he is using that "try to draw them offsides on fourth down" play to set up opponents. One game before the end of the year we will completely burn some poor team on fourth down because of that.

Did anybody see this on Tivo? ABC didn't replay it and it looked like a horrible call that very well could have cost us the game. Senior DLs are not known to go offsides on punts.

I also thought the pooch kick was awesome. It's too bad FSU got out of the hole, but taking the return guy out of the equation was a stroke of genius.

gth816f,

I look forward to bumping your post after I get home from Athens.:fingersx:

You can watch the replay on espn360.com. Speed up to the 3:06:10 mark. Morgan went into the neutral zone, causing the offense to false start.

I was really impressed with the playcalling. I loved the first play of the game. New formation and Nesbitt threw a 30 yard bomb to Dwyer. I loved the call when lucas scored the TD. Roddy Jones has really improved. He is doing great on special teams. I also agree that Nick Claytor played great!

I think every GT fan in the stadium knew that Blair wasn't going to kick that field goal.

I get sweaty every time we kickoff and punt now. How many times is it now that Scott Blair saved a return TD? Although it doesn't really matter... shouldn't be greater than zero.

Indeed. I mentioned yesterday that Blair may be in the upper echelon of the tackle category on our team.

I agree that our KO coverage stinks right now and that Blair has totally saved our ass on more than a couple of occasions, but let's not disregard the fact that Blair didn't kick a single touchback all game, IIRC. He just doesn't have the leg strength, imo.

Correct. Morgan moved first, which caused the lineman to move. Not saying the refs are perfect, because they did miss that hold in the endzone, but this one was not a missed call. Also, BoR, it was originally 4th and 11 -- the offsides made it 4th and 6 -- which they went for and made. Much different than 4th and 1.

I thought a dlineman could move all day but if the ball was snapped. If an olineman moves its a false start. Hard to be offsides when then ball isn't snapped.

As for the yardage on 4th down, I was drunk and being loud. Easy to forget.

Yes, the OLine did false start. However, when the ball is snapped or there is a false start when a defensive player is in the neutral zone, it's an offsides penalty.

If the DL jumps and "threatens" an OL the offensive guy is allowed to move. Not sure how they decide what threatening is though.

It looked like we practically ran into their line before the ball was snapped, so of course they false started. A false start isn't a false start, however, if it's caused by our line jumping into them.

It's the best he's looked this year in running the offense --he did a very good job reading the defense and getting the ball in the hands of the right back at the right time. I really hope the ankle will be ready for UNC.
