Was yesterday on 790 after their interview with Tenuta. They said that it was important not to get so carried away with the "Hiring for intensity" deal that we hire to win (Presumably the hearts of fans) in December, rather than to win (football games) in September.

To me, that's a big point. If whoever we hire doesn't come in to the press announcement and break one reporter's neck for each of the last seven times we've lost to UGAg, I won't be calling for his dismissal

The energy Dan is talking about will come if we have a man who can put a charge in the program with a competitive team on the field. If I have to wait until our boys put the pads on again next fall to see this newfound energy, I for one am not going to be disappointed.

An electrified fanbase does not lead to great seasons - but great seasons will ALWAYS lead to an electrified fanbase.

Don't get too caught up looking at the perceived personalities of these guys or how energized you can picture them getting right now.

I'd rather win games earlier in the season so we don't have to play games in December...

The only game I'd like to play in december is the ACCCG.

I think you and Dan disagree on this point. Only having winning seasons will not put the casual fans' butts in the seats. He knows there is a core that will support the program no matter what, but they already have their tickets. He needs the 'potential' Tech supporters to show up early and often. He's got somewhere in the neighborhood of 20,000 empty seats to fill before he has to open them up to our opponents.

He's looking for a dynamic personality that can help him sell Tech football to the metro area, while winning at the same time.

And after hearing Tenuta on 680 yesterday afternoon, I'd say it ain't him, which probably explains why the guy has been passed over by other programs in the past.

I may misunderstand your comment, but I've yet to see Tech with 20,000 unsold tickets for a game. Last I saw there were only around 2,000 left for the Army game.

I'm talking about converting many of those seats from walk-up sales to season tickets. The walk-ups in the major games tend to be wearing orange and red, not gold.:ugh:

Good post, I guess. Seems obvious to me.

Some people must not know how to read between the lines:

"failed to energize the fan base" = didn't beat Georgia in 6 years.

Its that simple.
