Everyone is talking recruiting, so here's my 2 cents on how you will know if the guys we sign in Feb. are any good or not.
Just look at the schools who also offered the guys scholarships. If we beat out Notre Dame, Michigan, Stanford, Maryland, Virginia, Penn State... we did alright.
.
If we beat out Tulane, East Carolina, Vanderbilt, UConn High, Duke, Rutgers.... we screwed the pooch. I've used this system for years, and it is very reliable. Good talent will always go to good programs. Marginal talent will always go to marginal programs.

Apparently our staff cannot go head to head with the teams in the Southeast so they are running off to Texas to get the leftovers out there....I guess going head to head with TCU or North Texas State is easier than going against Ugag or Auburn.

Just wait until Febuary when we sign 25 sleepers. I guess it will be called Gailey's Narcolepsy class.

BW I got off ST for several weeks just so that I wouldn't have to listen to your crap yes crap! But I see that you are still at it why don't you just bury your head in a bucket of crap as your brain would not know the difference. You have been brain dead so long that's where it belongs.

Well, I would like to see where we ARE going head to head with someone in the SE and beating them. I have a gut feeling that we are going to be taking everyone else's left-overs. I hope I am very wrong, but show me proof that I am.

bobby dodds ghost is right on target. I think that there is a lot of "whistling in the graveyard" regarding our recruting.

Jeb,
QB Al Pena, DE Adamm Oliver & OT Eddy Parker is not whistling & may be closer to opera. All 3 of these guys are bonafide div1a recruits who should be able to play in most major programs, certainly @ GT & anywhere in the ACC. Actually this is a real decent start.
How it goes from here will, of course, determine the overall class, but if we continue to pick up recruits on the calibre of the 1st 3, I would be pleased.

GTAce,
I am proud of those young men and any others that commit to GT; however, I can not understand how anyone who follows recruiting is not deeply concerned. What I find so troubling is that you can visit the recruiting board of any of the top 40 schools, check 200 or so individual prospects and you rarely, if ever, find GT as school he is considering. What I fear that much of our class will come from "the best of the rest" of those not actually offered a 'ship by a major school.

I'm not sure why that would be JebStuart. I did a real quick check on Rivals and found 110 kids who have at least medium interest in Tech. For most there are a number of other major schools in the mix (in fact for most 4-5 teams all have medium interest). And that's just what the Rivals folks think they know. I guess I'm not sure what you mean by those team' boards. Are you talking about one run by/for that school in particular?

For all you that are interested in recruiting; I can say without a dought the worst year of a Tech class was Pepper Rogers last year. He was under pressure to bring first and foremost students as first priority. These recruits were not listed on a single experts list of any grade! Also not a single top 25 school had offered a ship. That is the class that led to the demise of the early 80's. Up until then Pepper had done an unbelievable job of recruiting. Remember; it is in the offering of a ship by a top 25 program not just interest by the top 25.
