Absolute best, not "in their time" best. Who cares about the best white guy in the era when only whites could play.

I think it comes down to Bo vs. Deion. Maybe I'm wrong.

Also it's interesting we haven't had any great multi-sport athletes since the 90's. Someone like LeBron could probably have been a great football player but why.

You could put Jordan on the list. Though his baseball career was meh, it qualifies him and the magnitude of his hoops dominance makes him a contender.

I think it says something about the relative athleticism in baseball that everyone known for 2 sports is known for their first sport and also baseball.

Bo was certainly bigger stronger faster.

I say Bo because I think he had mvp caliber talent in both. Deion had the benefit of health, though.

Tom Glavine. Highly drafted hockey player.
John Smoltz. Could have made it as professional golfer.
Your sample is too small and focused on football.

Hershel Walker
Better football player than Bo. Olympic bobsledder, MMA champ, tennis and golf

Walter Ray Williams, Jr., Hall of Fame in both Bowling and Horseshoes, and he is white.

I would put Thorpe first ahead of Brown, then Bo and Deion. Kyler Murray is impressive - first round choice in baseball and football. Elway only tried one pro sport, but hw was a star in two sports. The old man who does color on Pitt basketball was pretty good - Dick Groat won two World Series and one NL MVP with the Pirates and was an All-American basketball player at Duke, the first to have his jersey retired. Dave Winfield did a nice college basketball pro baseball double.

Good picks. Groat and Winfield were great athletes.

Good catch on Winfield. Supposedly drafted (or would have been) in 3 sports.
MLB, NBA, NHL
