Personally, I hope Miami rebels and the present expansion plan is dead.

Personally, I do not like the fact that North Carolina, Duke, and Virginia killed the best expansion proposal.

I think Miami should stay true to Syracuse and Boston College and refuse to join

This is exactly what North Carolina and Duke wants to happen. This would also be a lesson to Virginia to drop the idea of blackmail in the future.

It would also stop this tragedy from happening as it is.

It would also set the scene for Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech, NCSU, Syracuse, Boston College, Miami, Maryland, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and possibly Penn State and South Carolina to form a new league.

If I were Miami, I would not want to be in the same league with North Carolina, Duke, and Virginia at this time. They would be better off joining a new conference or going with the SEC.

Aho, better think that wish through. Whatever happens or doesn't happen on this go round is pretty much it. Tech won't be able to better our position ever again. That is because an army of lawyers are about to lock every conference down permanantly, or at least without going through long-term hurdles. This, for better or worse, is going to be the last best chance to rejockey. I doubt seriously the SEC would expand but if they did FSU and others would come ahead of us. If expansion does not happen the ACC is doomed. A nine team league simply won't cut it financially in the future, irregardless of what UNC and Duke think.

I would be surprised if Swofford was so stupid to not know exactly how Miyama would react to the out come of this vote.
If Miami tells us to stuff it, this would be either deception by Miami or unmatched stupidity by the ACC.

I just wonder how Miami's gonna react to this? They stated very strongly that they wanted SU and BC with them.

Well, Personally, I think this is a much better solution than the original, assuming that the final team is anyone at all. Now we could possibly get Miami, VT and WVU which ways my best scenario going in.

I'm pretty sure that someone cleared it with Miami before going public. If not they're even more stupid than we ever thought possible.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!

If Miami turns down the ACC invite, things could turn out very badly for Georgia Tech. There are no guarantees that the Big East, SEC, or any "new" conference that you can conjure in your minds will want Georgia Tech. We'll be playing the same game that Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and Boston College have been playing the past few weeks, and we might just get burned.

The best thing for Georgia Tech at this point would be for Miami and VT to accept their bids. Then we'll get to work on adding that 12th team.

Agree Supertoe, if UM pulls out then XXXX em and the white horse they rode in on.

Take VT and call it a damn 10 team conference. As the other superconferences continue to form and get the better contracts, better players, etc. Then Duke and Wake Forest and maybe sissy blue UNC will drop football altogether and we can take a fresh start on the whole dang thang in about 5 years.

Fact of the matter we should never have signed up for the 75% of profit BS. It was like selling our souls to the Bacca road mafia.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Now that is a solution that accomplishes all the goals set out when expansion was first proposed. Where is the money in your senerio?

Dave,

Its hard to remember the objective was to drain the swamp when you're up to your ass in alligators. (Have to get a wetlands permit now, too)

Time to cut losses, lick our wounds and move on to something more productive. If we hadn't just mortgaged the Tech Tower to expand the stadium we could pay the ACC their $7M extortion money and go on to better things, but under the current debt service, we probably need to just get mad as hell and wait for a chance to get even.
