Big XII Championship Game For Brunch

A conference championship with 10 teams and a guaranteed regular season rematch, possibly rematching teams that played the week before, seems totally contrived and lame. Who wants to watch a rematch from a game played the week before? Nobody likes rematches.

If we win the coastal we will have to play Clemson twice most likely

It's the Big XII-IV+II trying to stay relevant.

The BCS, circa 2011.

I like the idea of having a round robin where everyone plays each other and the top two teams then square off for the championship.

Yeah it may result in a short term rematch sometimes, but I like it better than giant conferences with unbalanced schedules that were formed purely for TV money. That seems more contrived than a small conference where everyone is geographically close and everyone plays each other every season.

Just keep up with that attitude. It's the greatest. There's been plenty of games against top ten opponents where I'm sure we could have lost but didn't. Hell, Pitt beat Clemson last year.

I've commented a few times that Clemson plays us more aggressive than anybody. We've had a ton of long plays against them under Venables but a ton of punts too. They gamble with safety blitzes constantly and we've been a half second from walk-in TDs with AB seam routes several times each game the last 4 years. Go back on watch film of their sacks. Like half of them you can see Searcy/Lynch/whoever streaking wide open down the middle in the background.

If any other team on the schedule played us the way they do we'd shred them apart, but they're DL and blitzing back 7 have been too good/fast for us too handle. If we can sure up the pass blocking (which it looks like we have starting about halfway through last season) then we'll put up 200+ yards passing on them and open up the run game.

Yes they have had obviously the best defense we have seen both of the last two years and probably in 2014 two. I mean we had two pic sixes and won just 24-3 I think. I'll be satisfied as long as it's a competitive game. I'm tired of seeing them stonewall our offense.

28-6 and the two pick 6s only resulted in 12 points (missed PAT and fault 2PT conversion). But point still stands. We carved them up in 2011 somehow. And had some big plays in '14 with snoddy and JT. He'll even 2012/2013 (I think?) we put up a ton of points but the defense couldn't do anything against them. Defense played well enough last year for us to win. Gotta make them pay for the blitzes on offense.

I've rewatched GT-Clemson games multiple times. Clemson sends 5 or 6 basically every play and frequently fires safeties and even corners. Like gtrower said, we've got guys WIDE open just about every passing play. Our blocking was awful the past two years and JT looked really rattled even when he did have time(understandably).

On running plays, the problem is just missing blocks. There were lots of times where we had the numbers advantage that we needed but one of our OLs whiffed and we got hit before we could even reach the mesh or pitch read.

I think Clemson will depend on how their DL looks early. If they can dominate us inside with the DL, they may just play solid defense and not worry about firing safeties and corners. They will be on a week's rest, iirc, so that game is looking like a 9 on the shaky scale.
