We squandered 2, 20 point leads against UGAg (78 & 13). I believe Saturday's squandered lead was the biggest in the history of GT football.

Didn't we lead UVA 28-7 with Joe Ham in '99 and blow it against a third string walk on?

AJC said it's the largest lead GT has squandered in the modern football era (1950 on).

North Carolina’s comeback to beat Georgia Tech from a 21-0 second-quarter deficit set school records for both teams. It was the largest lead that Tech has given up in a loss in its modern era (1950 and forward) and also the Tar Heels’ largest comeback in a win.

Tech, incidentally, was part of one of two UNC comebacks that had prior to Saturday rated as the largest. The Jackets fell to North Carolina in 1987 after taking a 20-3 lead over the Tar Heels. North Carolina also came back to beat Virginia from a 17-point deficit in 1997.

Rank Lead Score Opponent Final score Year
1. 21 21-0 North Carolina 38-31 2015
2. 20 20-0 Georgia 29-28 1978
2. 20 20-0 Georgia 41-34 (2 OT) 2013
4. 18 35-17 West Virginia 38-35 2007
5. 17 27-10 Auburn 31-27 1975
5. 17 20-3 North Carolina 30-23 1987
5. 17 24-7 Virginia 45-38 1999
5. 17 36-19 Miami 42-36 (OT) 2012
9. 15 15-0 Alabama 16-15 1960
9. 15 24-9 Duke 25-24 1977

Miami in 2012 was a painful loss. IIRC we were up 17 in the 4th.

Even more than yesterday or WVU in 2007 or Georgia in 2013, I only know to describe that Miami game as traumatizing. Leads against Georgia never feel safe and WVU was a weird situation in a bowl game.

That Miami game took us very high emotionally and then took us very, very, very low, kicking us in the balls the whole way down.

We almost blew that Clemson game with the fake field goal (believe we were up 21-0), but ended up pulling it out.

2 of the largest 3 blown leads have occurred under CPJ.

He's a terrible closer if we're not playing Tulane or Alcorn St.

Who would you replace him with that would give us the same level of success he has over the past 8 years. Name your coach.

This was also a UNC record - they had never overcome a 21 point deficit to come back and win. This should not happen.

I'm sure there are many coaches who, given the roster in 2008, could have had the success we did in 2009 and followed it up with one more win against the mutts 6 years later.

I'm sure there are many coaches who could've inherited the program in 2008 and won 2 of 7 bowl games since.

I know for a fact you or I could have coached the team to back-to-back, two-years-runnning losses to below-avg UNC teams and Puke. For a lot less than CPJ just did!

:lol::lol:

There are 100+ coaches who could coach this team to 3 wins, as CPJ looks to do this year.

So you got nobody?

There's a ton of things about CPJ that I'd like to change (starting with the big chip on his shoulder), but you're a moron if you can't see that going to the OB twice in six years is a heckuva lot better than we've been under anyone since Dodd (and one special year in 1990).
