Biggest recruiting tool (with all seriousness, long)

Follow me though this analogy (please read all of it or none of it). A few years ago Ole Miss signed a very prominent name in Eli Manning. The very next year they had the best recruiting class ever to come to the state of Mississippi (including MSU, USM, and OM). Two years later he played his first extensive playing time in a blowout loss in the Music city bowl where he enter the game in the fourth quarter down by 35 points and they lost by 13 I think. That recruiting class also pulled in a number of top recruits, with a few publicly state they came to play with Eli. The best tool OM has is saying your are going to get a chance to play with someone great and he will give you a chance to win games. I am a pretty big OM fan, but of course a Tech alumni and that is where my heart is. Now I know some of you are going to say Tech has been the better team for the past five years and I will give you that, but I think Bilbo has the tools to be one of the best players in college football. If he takes over this year and keeps showing the flashes he has already shown and continues to progress, then people will come to Tech to play with him because they know he will give them that chance to win. I don't think we will get much better than mediocre with AJ in there this year and next, but I think we will have a chance to be great with D-Bo in there and to have him in there all four years instead of just two will help recruiting because people coming in next year and the year after will say I will get the chance to play with this guy for a few years not just a year or two if he were to keep splitting time with AJ. I have been trying to refrain from saying this but I just can't help it anymore. It is time to hand over the reigns to Damarius Bilbo.

Good pt., Mississippi. Thinking back, didn't we start to have those real good recruiting classes when l'il Joe was coming into his own? And I remember when Dez White left, he said about GT, "Who's gonna get me the ball?". Little did he know how efficient Godsey would become. But, having a star in a high-profile position helps mucho. I hope Dbo will be one.

I agree mississ.

I dont even think it is a close call after this loss. I predict CG will announce that Bilbo will be the starter.

You have to play the people that give you best chance to win.

I think that is Bilbo.

Like the many posters above, I agree. Bilbo only played a few sets today...but one of them was a touchdown. I say the Jackets will work in practice...Chan with a close eye on the QB situation, and Bilbo will start aginst the mighty.... Turtles?? He will have a sinsational game, and Chan wont have to make any more decissions after the Jackets upset the Terps! Bilbo For QB!! GO JACKETS!!

I hope AJ decides to stay in school and be an ambassador for TECH.

I'm sure he will make a great TECH man in time and have a prosperous future. "paging Mister Bilbo.."

One can only imagine what is going on inside AJ's head today (and his parents and close friends). First Tennessee, and now Tech. Wow, I feel for him and his family. Tech comes first, though. Bilbo will have to carry the weight, ready or not.
