Here's a breakdown of the position awards by espn.com.

I agree, of course, with this guy's opinion that Calvin should win the Biletnikoff.
However, if he's correct that Samarjaja will be the one to actually win this award, I will be absolutely livid. It's not defensible on any level, period.
You're probably thinking that it's because Samarjaja has better stats. Wrong. Samarjaja had 70 receptions for 958 yards and 11 touchdowns. Calvin Johnson had 67 receptions for 1016 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The stats are pretty much equal, but the QBs throwing to them obviously aren't. Brady's being mentioned as a high first round pick while Reggie would have trouble playing QB in the CFL.
How about performances in big games? The two biggest games that Samarjaja played in, Michigan and USC, he had 4 catches for 30 yards and 6 catches for 60 yards respectively.
Now, Calvin did have three games of "non-production," agaisnt Clemson, UNC and UGA. But in three of Tech's biggest games, against ND, VPI and the ACCCG, he went for 111, 115 and 117 yards. He also had very good games against Maryland and NC State and had a decent game against Miami.
And the overall defenses, of course, favor Georgia Tech. While the ACC is down this year, Tech's schedule still had some good and great defenses. As for ND, no teams on their schedule really played defense outside of Michigan and possibly Penn State or USC. Samarjaja had one of his biggest games against a horrible defense in UNC and against Michigan State, a team that hasn't fielded a true defensive unit since 1921.
The stats for the two players at the very least are equal, and when you consider the two QB situations, Calvin clearly has done more with less. In short, it will be a shafting of historic proportions if Calvin does not win this award.
Also, the espn.com page erronously lists Durant Brooks name as Dan Brooks. I don't much about the Penn State kicker, but I agree that he'll probably get it from the Penn State name recognition and being a senior.
I also think that Durant Brooks will almost be a shoo-in next year if he doesn't win it this year. I just wish we had Durant for four years instead of two.
