We could beat Va tech. Hell we might even beat duke or Pitt. But let’s not kid ourselves.

This is a rebuild:
1980: 1-9-1
1981: 1-10
1982: 6-5
1983: 3-8
1984: 6-4-1
1985: 9-2-1 ranked #18

2019:?

Y’all want to abandon the program because it’s hard? You have been made weak by our weak ass culture. I’m not talking about those complaining about the QBs or money down or the lack of offense. I’m talking about those of you that want to quit being fans. ööööing pussies.

Difference is, BC was making about $50k to coach us. CFB ain't what is used to be

If so, he owes us money.

Beat the number 1 team in the country and not win another game, but hey, he is a Tech man.
I still have the AJC newspaper from that win...almost totally gone now from age last I looked

a rebuild may be easier to swallow if it's not obscured by clownery like money down and used car salesman tactics.. maybe you grow that slowly after you beat some FCS teams..
That might be true but I doubt we go 1-11 two years in a damn row.

I was at that game in the blazing heat. What an unbelievable high, beating #2 and the Bear at their place (Legion).
Then the rest of the season was an absolute debacle. Only competitive in one game (UT).
Very typical for my 4 years at Ma Tech. 13 wins across 4 seasons. Miserable. This transition will hopefully be better.

And my Tech football PTSD is back...

Dammit, that timeline means uga wins a NC this year. Been thru that once. Too old to do it again - gotta update that funeral plan.

I would be in favor of CGC just preparing for the mutts from here on out.
That’s nonsense.
We aren’t going to beat them this year. But have y’all looked at Va Tech who might fire their coach this year? Oliver beat them single handedly. I’m not in favor of switching Qbs like we are but we can and should try to win games this year. There will be opportunities.

See if we can get the Stingtalk bulk rate discount

Can Oliver beat them half handedly?

I was at the Citadel game in 1982. We won. 36-7.

I was at the Citadel game in 1984. We won 48-3.

I'm not advocating one way or another, but there is a stark difference in the state of the program during 1980 and now. In 80, the school was contemplating elimination of football all together. You can say give curry credit but we all know it was Dodd the mastermind, bringing in Rice that turned the program around. Now, all we did was swap a coach with a winning record, a highly productive offense, some high level success, a few terrible years, and a habitually horrible defense for one that is a giant question mark.

I hope that CGC is successful, just as much as anybody. Was it a worthwhile change? Only time will tell. I do know for a fact that we won't be winning the ACC or an Orange Bowl any time soon though.

Well, not sure something changes when someone quits. Maybe just keep a cardboard cutout of CPJ & Sewak on the sideline would satisfy many. And be cheaper.

Nobody else in the ACC (sans cu) knows for a Fact when they will / will not win the ACC or go to an Orange Bowl either.

But we do know for a fact that we now want to recruit like we mean it, that we want to go after more than playing in charlotte. And we know now, like every other real program in the country, that it takes commitment to all 3 phases of the game to be worth it.

And we now want more than to claim an ACC divisional championship (wow) because another team turned it down.
