Bill Fulcher passed away

I think he would have been successful at Tech if he had stayed in coaching. From what I understand personal reasons is why he left.

My church just sent us an email that he passed away today.
You say "your church". So you are in Augusta too? I met Bill a few years back while singing with the FBC choir in a few Christmas and one Easter concert. We got to know each other as much as possible during short times together. I last saw him at a joint-year ARC reunion in April (or May). That was the first time I had seen him in probably 3 years, and he looked very frail at the time. But he was his usual very friendly self. VERY SORRY to hear this news.

Probably HC around attending my first games as a kid.

Yes, we discussed this a couple of years ago.

Sad news. Great guy and as stated above, had personal life problems not happened would have had a great career. Very sorry to hear of his passing - a true class act.

He was just before my time at GT
Can someone shed a light in the “ personal problems”
I know about McAshan

A screwball wife. I don't remember any details, but the sad thing is that after they divorced, he proceeded (not immediately, of course) to marry another screwball, one I had known since grammar school. His 3rd and final wife was apparently stable, because the marriage lasted at least 10 years, and she was a very attractive woman.

Brought back the traditional white jerseys, old (correct) gold pants uniform after the initial old gold jerseys/white pants during the Bud Carson era. Used more contemporary two (gold/black) uni-width jersey stripes instead of the older “Northwestern” (black, wide gold, black) stripes of the Coach Dodd era.

Was a good man, good leader, and good coach for the Flats. RIP.

The AJC's Ken Suguira also has a good column about him.

If anyone would like to see it but doesn't have a subscription, I will be happy to paste the content here.
