Boise State fans more of a puddle than a sea

In my never ending quest to find out what all the other ACC teams think about our new hire(FSU hasn't mentioned it yet, BTW...the only team that hasn't)

I came across this random piece regarding Boise State's fans and their bowl.

In summary, less then 200 tickets have been sold to Boise fans for their bowl.
 
You know it's in Hawai'i, right? And I'm not sure we should be insulting other schools about their bowl attendance before we see what ours is going to look like...
 
What's funny is that they're going to Hawaii because they asked to. Otherwise they would've stayed in Boise.
 
I guess that was kind of my point. The fans feel like the team turned their back on them and thus are not showing their support.

I wish, but I think he was serious - which is sad on two levels. One because he actually made that comparison. And two because he was telling someone to "stfu" for pretty much no reason.
 
In their defense, a bunch had just paid for a regular season game day to Hawaii. That's a tough double dip.

Clearly? I think not. Wichita State had 5 times as many fans there as us. Hell, Charlotte outdrew us. It's a comparison of support for your major sports programs. I could have said Boise/Roady's. The support for that isn't any better. Neither was it for the basketball/Hawaii trip last year, or the ACCCG, or the Gator Bowl last year.

It isn't sad. All y'all have been griping about our coaching search for two weeks and how we are/aren't a major program. Our big money guys stepped up to demonstrate that they are committed to getting/keeping us there. The only thing asked of the rest is that we support the teams and that includes travel.

Don't crap on another school's ability to support their team when 1.) you don't know their situation, and B.) you don't do exactly what you are laughing at them for not doing.

"Ya'll" is highly inappropriate because the overwhelming majority of people on this forum were simply discussing, occasionally debating and mostly enjoying the search and the drama that came with it. Exaggeration and overreaction #2.

1.) It's HUMOROUS that Boise State has 200 fans to go to Hawaii for their team's bowl game. There are reasons upon reasons why people would and should stay home and not go all the way to Hawaii - but that misses the entire point which is that it's COMICAL.

2. Aside from the fact that you have no idea which people are or are not going to Boise for our game and thus have no place telling them to that they're hypocritical - this too falls into the category of you missing the entire point that it is FUNNY for a school to only muster up 200 fans for their bowl game, regardless of circumstances.

When it's OUR team that does it, it's an embarrassment and a shame. When someone ELSE does it, it's worth a LAUGH.

In closing: Get a sense of humor or STFU.

I think the point is our team is pretty much doing the same thing. We might have a bit more than 200, but probably not very much at all, especially when you don't count family, and Boise is a lot easier of a trip than Hawai'i and we didn't just have a lot more than 200 people go to the same exact place for our final regular season game. So we can laugh, but this is kind of the pot calling the kettle black.

If it turns out that that is all we sent, then yes it is and it sucks. But my point isn't on the topic of support for our program - it's about the fact that it's absurd for someone to burst into a thread and tell someone to "Shut the **** up" for no reason.
 
I think I already posted this, but it's also a good amount of humble pie for Boise. Imagine if we had a guaranteed bid to play in Nashville or Atlanta but we turned it down to go play in Hawaii instead?

That's sort of what happened here.
 
200 tickets??? wow that is awful...anybody know how many bc has sold?? i know they didnt sell near as many as we sold last year in the acccg

Except that is EXACTLY the way our program has been for years. I know. I go. STFU was not for no reason. It's easy to say all y'all when we have 20,000+ season ticket holders and draw less than half that for an east coast bowl, barely 1/10 of that for a west coast bowl, and 30 ****ing people, half of which are parents for a basketball tournament. There are reasons we don't get invited to more meaningful events.

Sorry to burst your bubble. People have been claiming that our football HC position was a top assignment. It only is too the extent that we pay our coach, put ourselves in position to go to the post- & pre-season events, AND attend them. Boise isn't doing that and you want to laugh when you are doing the same ****ing thing.
 
Take my word for it: the Boise fans are good fans, but 2 trips to Hawaii within 2 months is not like 2 trips to Jacksonville.
