It is being rumored that a victory over UNC will mean a historic match-up vs. the Crimson Tide of Alabama in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, TN on December 31 at 4:00pm.

Very nice ACC/SEC match-up with a lot of history.

Now THAT would be awesome! If we end up in a lesser bowl like that, at least let it be against a team that's worthwhile and not Utah, Fresno, Tulsa, or Sisters of the Poor. A game against the Tide would be a treat for both fan bases.

Believe it or not, I would hate having to face off against Bama.

You see, before enrolling here at the great ol' Georgia Institute of Steal-Your-Soul, I was a die-hard Alabama fan. Don't hold it against me.... if you can.

Now, I would undoubtedly root for Tech to destroy my old mistress. But, constantly getting crap from both sides would just be a lot to deal with.

That being said, I'd love to go back to the Music City Bowl against a different opponent. Ironically, the last time I went was to see Bama get destroyed by VaTech 38-7. That was back when they used to play the game in Vandy's home stadium.

Another thing: Is this insider info? Or, are you just spit-balling? I noticed that ESPN projected this match-up, but I didn't know if you had heard something else besides that.

This was not from ESPN or any other bowl projection organization.

May be coincidence, but this info. was posted on the Hive Insider forum less than an hour before being posted here.

Man, I'm all over that one. That would be a great tradition-rich game and Nashville is a great city to visit.

I would be SO there.

So how do y'all think we'd fare against 'Bama?

I think we'd do pretty well. Their run defense is nothing to brag about, and their QB (John Parker Wilson) has a knack for making some crucial mistakes (see: MSU, LSU). I think if we got to him, we wouldn't have any problems forcing some errors.

This speculation hit Stingtalk last week, it's not new to us. Well, the 'us' part isn't, the 'Bama' part was under less clarification then.

We match up well vs Bama. I like it.

Whether this rumor is credible or not, I'd love going to Nashville. I used to live there, great town, awesome downtown entertainment district, and a great stadium. I'll be there.

We would be so out Coached, I hope the players can do it, that would be fun, another group of red-necks at the end of the season.

The earlier rumor had GT facing the Bama/AU winner in Nashville. With both teams representing old rivalies --I'd much rather face either one than say a Big Ten team in Orlando or a Big East team in Charlotte.

Bama is fine with me . GT has faced AU a couple of times recently --but hasn't played Bama since '84.

Looks as if GT will avoid Boise --the NCSt/MD winner will likely make that trip.

Prognostications show GT winding up in either Nashville against Bama / Kentucky or San Fran against perhaps Oregon St.

Now would be the time to play them, after a season or 2 with Saban, i dont think so.

We have and will follow our Jackets to any Bowl. However, we would really enjoy this venue and matchup.

We were in Nashville a few weeks ago to watch Shorter play Cumberland in Lebanon. Nashville is one of my wife's favorite places.

Here's keeping our fingers crossed.

I posted it here about 3-4 weeks ago so how's that for a scoop?

We need to win and Bama needs to lsoe to Auburn. If Bama beats auburn they'll go to the outback or chick-fil-a.

The only bowl game I have been to is the 2000 Peach Bowl against LSU, so I would definitely like to make this trip to Nashville for this game.

It's all fine and dandy but we better take care of UNC or I'd suspect we'd be heading to San Fran.
