What is the point in giving them the selection for ACC No. 4 or ACC No. 5...if they take the 8th best team in the conference...that is a problem. I could understand if the team they picked was only 1 game off the mark. However, NCState was a lousy 3-5 in conference...and both GT and BC were 5-3. Do not throw NCState's back door win on us after we outgained them 443 yds. to their 286 yds....and our 29 first downs to their 14. If you do that then you have to say "well GT beat Miami'...and 'Clemson beat FSU'. When there is a 2-game in conference swing...head to head is out the door. I would also add that NCS lost to 4-7 WF and 5-6 NC.
If NCState played GT's OOC schedule...they would have likely been 4-7. This just shows that you are rewarded by the bowls for being cowardly and playing crappy schedules.
How about this...both BC and GT are RANKED in both polls....and NCState could not even get a vote in either one!!
I am not upset with the Emerald folks....I am glad they were there for us. I am also happy our players will get a chance to see San Francisco...a great town...matter of fact it is 1,000 times the town that Charlotte is. This move just makes me realize even moreso what a one-horse town Charlotte is to have business leaders on their bowl committee that do this crap.
We need to really get behind our players. Unfortunately...since Utah is having a down year...we are playing a game that is a no-win situation. We get zero credit if we beat them....and a heap of crap from the media if we lose...despite the fine folks at Utah.
The ACC has to look at some restrictions on bowl invitations base on records in the conference...or else the bowls are still the joke they were 10 years ago.
