Johnson, GT close to deal

Current Navy coach close to finalizing deal to replace Gailey. STORY TO COME :fingersx:

:laugher:This storyline was put up by the AJC because they realized ST had passed them in the rumor mill.

I can't wait to see what the $ amount is. It better be no more than $1.8MM in my opinion...$2MM is too much.

It's also the most contingency ridden story yet, particularly the part about (quoting the Tony Barnhart article) "Johnson will either stay at Navy or he will become the next coach at Georgia Tech to replace Chan Gailey."

Somehow this hasn't quite reached warm & fuzzy status for me yet!

Multiple sources throwing the 2.3m number around

wow, that's a lot of money. pj's a good pickup and it's not my money to spend, but i've got to ask - how much is left over to keep a decent staff?

Tech, Johnson agree to deal
Jackets waiting for Navy coach to sign contract

"Navy coach Paul Johnson has an agreement in principle to become the next head football coach at Georgia Tech, two people close to the hiring process told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Friday morning. But as has been the case during this crazy season of the coaching carousel, it is not a done deal until Johnson's name is on the dotted line."
This is most important part of the entire story

Ok, now let's not get Arkansas-ed on this thing. No whammies!

What happened to "young" and "dynamic"? PJ is a good coach, just doesn't seem to fit DRad's description

It sounds to me like Navy may have the last chance to match it. I wouldn't if I were them.

Navy board insider said this morning it would be between Navy and one other. We'll see.

wow that is a huge amount of money for PJ. Good coach but......

Could be worse... Alabama is still paying Saban 4 mill

Its all relative :D
