I'm all in for him.. so much so i thought it deserved another thread.. I loved O'leary's recruiting style and hope brent picked it up from him.. csb

You aware that a good # of O'leary's recruits wouldn't get into the school today, right?

yeah i'm just not so sure who's fault that is... did the hill turn against us or did the coaches/Gailey/AD give in to the hill?

The problem is the rules change. NCAA measure progress towards degree to be eligible now.
still believe you can get these guys through class with enough tutors/word/etc

i just hope whatever next coach we get that his salary is tied more to winning FB games than GPA

Let’s just imagine for a second that we didn’t know Key was a “Tech man”

Who would be happy hiring an OL coach that flamed out at UCF?

i thought he was the coach in waiting until o'leary's departure somehow screwed him over.. hence the school paying him the buyout.. so yeah i would still be happy about him

Another way of putting it is that Key was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator the year they won zero games. He is not blameless.

Forgive me.

Here’s the deal with that team- UCF was still on NCAA scholly sanctions, youngest team in football, lost the most starters to injury, freshman QB most of the season.

Of course. Teams that lose all their games often times have extenuating circumstances. But two years after they replaced the coaching staff (Key included) they went undefeated. Pretty big shift.

His coaching resume also includes a successful 11-year stint at UCF, where he helped lead the Knights to four conference championships and eight bowl appearances, one season as an assistant coach at Western Carolina and two seasons as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech
Key was named interim head coach for Georgia Tech in 2022, following the firing of Geoff Collins. He went 4–4 as interim head coach, with his most notable wins being over #24 Pittsburgh and #13 North Carolina.
Think CGC would have beaten UNC and Pitt?

This thread is mental masturbation. Let's see what the results are over next couple of years before we reach a verdict.
