David Glenn of the ACC Journal has an article about UNC's player attrition, but what I found interesting was this lil' tidbit:

There are basically two ways to build a winning program in the new ACC: (1) consistently recruit significantly better talent than everyone else, a la Florida State or Miami, and/or (2) consistently recruit "good enough" talent, then retain it, develop it and coach it up on game day, a la Boston College and Georgia Tech.

There are those who will dispute that statement, but I find it hard to deny.

Interesting read. I actually respect Bunting more from afar after seeing how many kids "chose to gradute", left for medical reasons, or were kicked off the team. I just took it that he understands the whole college thing.

I don't think so Mid. IMO, Bunting is so far in over his head that he will never be remotely successful. There have been so many televised games where his players are laughing behind his back during one of his Lombardi stares toward the field down by 3 touchdowns. He just doesn't get it.

I am certainly no fan of unc, but they have no reason to be this bad. Just remember back to the Mack Brown era. They can get players. As usual, unc needs a coach.

Pocket, I was saying that Bunting may actually get what college is really about, not necessarily football. A great football coach for UNC, BC, UVA, GT, DUKE, WAKE, MD of late, all need to get it done in the classroom too. Bunting's been hammered and in some cases it's medical and graduation related.
