Hey Jacket Fans, Welcome back to BTR. The guys bring another lively episode as they delve into broader issues facing the Yellow Jacket football team. Up next the Jackets play host to GA Southern and the hosts provide their thoughts on where they see this particular game in the grand scheme of the season.

I'm boycotting BTR until you have a ST'er on. Or until we win another game.

We gave up points on 7/9 possessions, not TDs on 7/9 possessions. Just FYI. Agree with y'all's frustration with the defense though.

Y'all hint around a lot at "players make plays" idea. That seems to be main issue we're up against. Dropped pick six, dropped 4th & 4, tipped pass for TD instead of INT, etc all evidence of that. Scheme is also an issue, CTR not doing much in the way of maximizing what we do have.

I like the idea of doing cover 1 w/ #14 in the box w/ press coverage. Probably would have to wait until we get Durham back before we could try such a thing, though.

Yeah do yall interview any STers on your episodes? That would be a great addition if not, you could call it ST call in hour!

Would love to have any of you guys on the show. The dial in is 347-989-8385. We normally get rolling about 930pm on Tuesdays and I'll send a reminder early in the day.

@coit you around next week?

Certainly! How does it work, do you guys stream it live while you are recording it?

Y'all predicted 35-21, I think. Pretty good

The defense blows

Firing Roof would be unpopular so Johnson is in a tough spot. Johnson recognizes how bad the problem is at least, needs to coerce Roof into playing more aggressively

Granted, there were a few 3rds today I don't think Southern would've converted if PJ Davis were out there. And we were up two scores so conservative is more situationally justified

There were a few 3rd downs where we played press coverage with single high safety. I love it. Also loved that blitz where we ran two guys up the middle and Griffin took their QB down. Getting better?

As much as we bargain with ourselves, it ain't a coaching problem.

Consistently playing soft zone with DBs 10 yards off of WRs on 3rd & 3 isn't a coaching issue?

That said, there were a few instances on Saturday were we "just missed", again, big defensive plays. #9 couldn't quite finish a sack when he had a free shot at their QB. One of our DBs dropped a sure pick that led to them getting a long reception (eerily similar to what happened with #14 against Pitt).

Players gotta make plays but need to be in position to do so. Extremely pleased, as others have stated here, that our guys were allowed to Cover 1 and that we had safety blitz for a sack on a big 4th down play.

EDIT (add): let's not forget too - we didn't have PJ Davis on Saturday, arguably our best defensive player. Yet we still only allowed 4 YPP.
