..and Cutcliff and all the other exciting possibilities that could have occured here.

Has Jimbo Fisher ever been a head coach before?
How do you know he would be a good head coach at Georgia Tech?

I don't know whether WNC has ever stated his opinion about Fisher prior to now. Please don't mistake one person's opinion for everyone's opinion.

That being said, I think Jimbo Fisher is an excellent head coaching prospect for whatever team hires him when the time comes. But, I think if you read most people's posts on this board, you'll find that they wanted Gailey to stay. The talks of Fisher, Cutcliffe, et al. were only hypotheticals about who we would like to hire if CCG left. My stance has never wavered about wanting CCG to stay. I realize he's not perfect, but I think for now it's the best for the program. I think I line up with most Tech fans that would say Gailey is a good coach, but he needs to get a few more very important things in order (most notably beating Ugag).

we have to agree to disagree here.. I think the mood was very much in favor of a change and you could tell in the prospect coaching list and reasons that people talked about. The was even an article in the paper that said over 60% of GT wouldn't care if Gailey left and wanted a new coach.. pretend all you want, but most wanted a new and exciting coach on the flats.. and one dedicated to tech... not one who wants an NFL out for every opening that rears its head.

some wanted him to stay, some wanted him to leave and many just wanted a decision. Besides, since Bobby Dodd when have we had a coach dedicated to Tech? And when has Tech been dedicate to a coach beyond his contract or that last straw loss?

some wanted him to stay, most wanted him to leave, and many just wanted a decision. ;)

Chan Gailey has interviewed for two NFL HC jobs (that I am aware of) since coming to Tech in Dec. 2001. There have been many many NFL HC hires since then. I wouldn't exactly say that CCG has wanted out for every opening that comes up.

I agree with you on the pro Chan group, and on the con Chan group, and I think those groups were roughly the same size.
Those that you say just wanted a decision, I characterize as the Fence Sitters though. I imagine that the majority of these fence sitters now fall in the con Chan group.
If my assumptions are correct, we now have a much more unified fan base with regard to Chan Gailey. ;)

I believe Dan has to make a very big boy financial decision now: If the majority of contributing Tech fans are in fact anti Gailey, is it short sided to keep him on because of the contract?
Or, will the contributors rally behind an effort to pay him off so that Dan can move this program ahead?

I sincerely hope Dan can do the right thing.

Never mind. Just saw the press conference.

I wasn't saying anything negative about Jimbo Fisher. I've never given an opinion of him. I don't believe he has been a head coach, so I can't say for certain he would be any better of a head coach than someone else.

Jimbo Fisher may be a great coach and man. However, he can't hold a candle to CCG's resume, experience and IMHO, stature. imho
