What Would You Choose Between World's Sexiest Weather ...


I predict the Jackets will go 3-3 over the second half of the season, including an upset of ND. Finish 7-6 with W in the Birmingham Bowl.
 
Pretty good look. I say 3-3 finish and Gasparilla Bowl. We take 3 of 4 from UVA, VT, UM, BC
 
We don’t have the defense to stop a dedicated running game. We lose to BC, ND, and another team.

We blow out UVa like we did uNC. VT and Miami are either sloppy wins or sloppy loses.

End 5-7, which is improvement. Hoping for 6-6, which is reasonable and would give me some confidence in the staff.

At the beginning of the year, I would have gladly taken 5-7. Losing to NIU taunts the final record somewhat, but I’ll still be content with 5-7 this year with holes of continued improvement in the record next year.
 
Had us 7-5 preseason. Thinking 5-7 now.

Don’t like the UVa game at all. They are going to gash us through the air and I don’t trust our offense to win a shootout.

I suspect BC, Miami, and VT are ugly games. I think VT is the most likely win as their offense is garbage.

I think ND is overrated but I suspect they are good enough in the front seven that they don’t need to score much to beat us.

Uga could probably beat us punting on first. I shudder thinking about our OL going up against their DL.

If NIU ends the year with 9 or 10 wins, you guys are finally going to stop saying crap like this. If we finish 5-7, that's improvement, period, and our performance in the first game of the season will be the least meaningful aspect of it by far.
 
One thing that gives me hope is that I have come to reluctantly believe Kenny Pickett is legit. I guess the UVA kid is the closest we will see to him from here on out, but otherwise, QB injuries for our opponents have kinda broken in our favor.

We'll end the season with five total picks against the commonwealth and two wins. You're right about Miami being ugly, but I think we likely win a close one. BC is not a game I am looking forward to.

Notre Dame, I dunno. If we play like we did against Clemson and Carolina, we may find ourselves with a shot to win late. But it may be just as likely that ND plays to their potential and we lose by a couple scores.

No idea who you're talking about with the last one, but we already destroyed one in-state cupcake and I expect we'll do it again to cap the season.

No, because we clearly had the pieces to win the game. We we unprepared and out coached.

To get to where we need to be, our staff has to be prepared for these tune up games. There would be an entirely different vibe to the season right now with a 4-2 record and a close loss to Clemson. There would be some coverage of Tech turning the corner. Instead, we are still leaning on the rebuild excuse. That loss had zero to do with the rebuild. CGC has gathered the legos he needs. It is time to start making buildings.

Everyone has the right to their opinion, but if we finish 5-7 or better and anyone is claiming it's tainted because of the NIU game, they and their opinion are both ööööing retarded.

5-7 is the worst case scenario for discounting the NIU game. That means we could have been bowling without a game where the staff screwed up.

5-7 and flipping the UNC/NIU games and everyone is singing the talent chorus. A team that goes 4-4 in the ACC has no business losing to NIU.

I was in the 5 to 7 win camp. 5 means we are on the right course, but should make some staff tweaks. I am not saying the coordinators, but whoever CGC doesn’t think is performing. Then the next season you should know if CGC can manage staff. 7 wins and there is no need for a correction. You know he can pick a staff.

Considering what we're looking at in the next six games, and how meaningful our performance in those will be in revealing the progress of the team, I have already discarded the NIU game as more meaningless than blowing out Kennesaw State.

The difference in perspective is that not all 5-7 are created equal.

Beating the last 5 teams is going to be viewed in a better light than beating the first 5.

Rightly or not, beating NIU, KSU, Duke, UVa, and BC will leave people with a “we’re building” mindset. Beating uga, Clemson, ND, UNC, and Miami will leave people saying “we could have been better” mindset.

Yes, I will feel sick about that game if we end up with 5 wins. But I can't change my opinion on the state of the program or advocate for staff changes simply because their 2 point attempt was ruled complete on the field.

Beating BC could be a decent achievement. This weekend will maybe tell on that but I could see them being better than UNC and Miami.
In particular I could see us doing to Miami what we did to UNC. They have an average defense, no offensive line and no QB now.

BC might be better than UNC or Miami, but the football world isn’t rational. Fans still get a rise out of beating Nebraska but not Minnesota.

After Notre Dame and the idiots, beating Boston College would be the marquee win of the season. Pitt could have been that, if we hadn't öööö the bed against them (again, Clemson notwithstanding) but I think it'll be very telling, how much we improve between the Pitt and BC games. That win wouldn't necessarily get the same excitement from our fans as beating Carolina or VPI or Miami, but it probably should.

Agreed re: Miami. We owe them a savage beating and if we play as well as we are capable of, we may see it.
