Caleb King....for y\'alls information

I read on Scouts Georgia high school football board tonight that King has(or will) left Parkview High and will transfer to Greater Atlanta Christain.

He apparently skipped out on the AAAAA state championship meet. I can't find why any of this would happen....except he may have had a fallout with Cecil Flowe and has a brother working at GAC.

Question: Would any of this affect Tech's ability to recruit him?

Re: Caleb King....for y\'alls information

He won't qualify at Tech. He most likely is Auburn bound.

Re: Caleb King....for y\'alls information

It could be so that he can get some special attention to help him focus on academics to improve grades and test score...but I am just speculating. Maybe that transfer will get GAC over the Buford and Charlton County hump?

Re: Caleb King....for y\'alls information

Hivered: According to the AA board King's brother is a 'community coach' at GAC. I'm not exactly sure what the term 'community coach' means at a private school.

Also, there is a statement that says King has applied to GAC.

And a Greene County fan wrote that Greene County and GAC match up very early ion the season. Josh Nesbitt vs. Caleb King!

He's been offered by GT already.

BOR, read between the lines...

Hehas a condtional offer from GT. I've heard 2nd (or maybe 3rd, I dunno) hand that Caleb is trying hard to get his grades up, but I don't know how far he has to go. If he does qualify, it'd be with one of those Hill exemptions that Gailey can use.

Re: BOR, read between the lines...

From what I understand, if Dwyer commits, he's going to be our "Hill-exception" recruit. I wouldn't count on landing King.

Re: BOR, read between the lines...

When Dave Braine was here we didn't get any 'exceptions'.

I hope that with RADS onboard and taking the lead, with him and Gailey lobbying 'the Hill' for more freedom to exercise their judgement, that the term 'exception' will be a thing of the past. I believe every athlete should be based on his own merits and whether or not he is capable and motivated enough to do the work.

With RADS and Gailey vouching for and assuming the responsibility for who they want to offer scholarships, I scarcesly see what kind of argument 'the Hill' logically should be putting up.

My own opinions and hopes of course but I'd hate to see anything unnecessary put the brakes on our recruiting.

A community coach is a low/non-paid individual that does not work at the school and is not a teacher at any other school. It's like a volunteer that helps out with the team, maybe even coaches the JV or 9th grade. It's a great way for a college kid who has aspirations of being a coach after college to get into the profession; like an intern.

I was a community coach for my old high school's basketball program. I worked a regular 9-to-5, coached the 9th grade team, and helped/scouted the varsity team. Kind of like being a little league coach, except it's at a high school. If you've got the time, knowledge, connections, and experience, I would suggest you look into doing it.
Good experience and very rewarding.

Re: BOR, read between the lines...

The one exception I can remember from the Braine Reign (like that?) is Anthony Barnes. There might be more, as the coaching staff, I believe, is alotted roughly 1 per year.

Re: BOR, read between the lines...

Rad's is going to have to get in the Hill's face in my opinion. If the Hill operated 5-6 years ago like it does today, we wouldn't have ever seen Darryl Smith, Eric Henderson, Key Fox, etc. etc. ever suit up for the White and Gold.

Rad's needs to hit the Hill hard and take chances on character guys like the Eric Henderson's of the world.

Re: BOR, read between the lines...

'Insiders' have told me that rest assure, RAD has told Gailey he shouldn't be having to put up with 'the Hills' interference with recruiting.....that he would assume the lead in these affairs.

(I have been to 'Happy Hour' so excuse me if I sound slightly incoherent) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drink1.gif

If King really is leaving Parkview

it's gonna kill their season. They do have a kid coming back from a knee injury - Antonio Mohn - and he's the real deal. I think he'll be a JR this year.

Anyway, I called my old position coach at Parkview - he's still teaches but not coaching anymore - and he couldn't confirm that he was gone, but said it was a strong rumor.

Parkview sucks anyways. GO BRONCOS! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugher.gif
