Watching a little bit of their football game on GPTV. Does anyone know what their helmet stickers look like?

That is a great thing about Calhoun...during football season "Buzz" is all over the place in an otherwise UGA town. Buzz in on storefronts, signage, all over the school and football field, shirts, etc.

Glad they lost, I played at the rival school and nothing makes me happier. They are probably the only football team I hate more than UGAy.

I can't believe theirs so much hate for Calhoun. Who knows the old High Schools that shut down to form Calhoun.

Rome, do you remember?

I thought Redbud went into Gordon Central...the county school.

Calhoun is a city school...(use the term city loosely).

No...my wife did...several years ahead of you.

I did not meet her until college...but upon going back I had never seen a school that had a day care in it before! :ugh:

Haha...yea I did not realize that most schools did not have one until I started teaching.

I have no idea here, I know that Red Bud and Fairmount combined to make Gordon Central in the 80s but Calhoun has been around a long, long time.

A lot of nice people up there though. I am related to Cody Worley...so I of course have followed Calhoun...and now Furman of course.

I talk to Scott Blair's parents whenever I run into them at games. My son is the kicker for his football team (he is only 9)...and they had Scott send him an autograph. They are nice people.

JD,
I don't remember any schools shutting down concerning Calhoun. Gordon Central could be responsible for that factor tho.

I will say this for Calhoun. They played in my view, exceptional football, but simply against a better team. The final score did NOT reflect the game in my opinion. I only got to watch most of the second half and I was impressed greatly. Both teams fired off the ball on the snap and both teams did a fine job. Buford just appeared to have the edge on Calhoun. But, Buford has had the edge on a lot of teams. Calhoun has a very good team, but Buford is flat out good. The officials in this game made sure they earned their pay. I've never seen so many flags thrown. Wife asked at one point of the game how many penalties there had been, I could only tell her that only one......per play that is.

I saw the E.M.I. and Wesl... game earlier today and was not nearly as impressed as I was with the Calhoun and Buford game. Our new recruit JC Lanier played both ways the whole game. He's a giant of a guy but his team EMI didn't seem to have a lot of spark. Not much hustling from EMI. Hopefully GT can change that when JCL arrives. No penalties in the first half was good. Few in the second half.

I also went to Gordon Central. The Blairs are a very nice family...I graduated in the same year as Scott. Know Cody Worley and that crew pretty well also. Just a natural hate between the two schools...hate the school, dont mind the majority of the people though.

On Calhoun's helmet's, they have helmet stickers (akin to the buckeye's on Ohio State's helmets). Does anyone know what they are putting on their helmets?

It is like my wife says (a Gordon Co Ctl alum)...it is not a rivalry because Gordon County never wins!

Calhoun looks forward to the Dalton and Atlanta schools much more.

That's what it was. We use to have some great basketball rivalries with Fairmont, they had a kid that couldn't shoot from 20 in but put him past that and he knocked it down everytime. Redbud was fun as well in football, not very good but fun to go there. We beat'em bad one game and as we were getting on the bus their players were going back on the field, they were getting ready for a two hour scrimmage, we were lucky we didn't have that coach.

Haha....well actually we never played them when I was in school. We scrimmaged them, but I never felt like the game was taken serious enough from both sides to be considered(coaching wise). This past year is the first time we have actually played each other in like 10 years or so. In the mid 90s, the rivalry(with pranks, vandalism, etc) got so bad that the school system cancelled the games between us.
