Can someone post a recap of Coach Gailey's call-in show for us out of towners who can't listen via radio or computer???

THANKS!!

I tried to listen by computer but the media player kept attempting to connect and then it would say connection closed. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Did anyone else listen on the computer or have any problems listening? Or have any suggestions on it?

I'm not sure but I think it means you have the "Buck" virus.

790TheZone....there is something wrong with their feed. Had the same problem with their link. They're using new program. Seems it isn't working well. One of those "new and improved" deals that doesn't work well yet.

Had no problems with link on RW.com.....

Georgia Tech Multimedia Center

I'm thinking JacketGuy will put one of his recaps up. He and others really do a great job.

I had problems too beeware. I finally got connected 1/2 way through.

I didn't do an in-progress synopsis but here are some random thoughts from my memory of the last half:

1) Recruiting: Plan on signing all 25/full allotment. Need help everywhere but especially the OL which is where the numbers will be higher. Chan believes you can never have enough good DL and corners. Mentioned signing LBs and receivers specifically.

2) Nickleback: Houston played great - made big plays. Now they feel comfortable using a dime package when necessary because we have Houston and Rhino who are good at the position.

3) Curry: Not in game shape, but "rehab shape". Should see the field for a couple plays but not a lot.

4) RB by committee: Neither Ace nor Sampson is 100% ready to play a full game because they aren't in game shape. They just came off the scout team and are freshman is the reason. There is a plan going into the game about when to use them but it could change if someone gets a hot hand. PJ Daniels was mentioned in this group as a possiblity. Said we don't know what we'll get from this group until they play some.

5) Suggs: Playing another QB is not ruled out. The thing with AJ is not that he played a bad game but that he has played well in the past. He's had a great week of practice and made progress understanding the offense. Chan is not worried about protecting his confidence.

6) Chan said the biggest positive for this team is the senior leadership.

7) Muyres is one of the most intellegent football players he's ever coached. Wes said Collins got his hands on a couple he should have had. Gailey responded, "Yeah he got one. That's why he's on defense."

8) Freshman: He talked about moving a DE off the scout team (Pullen?) because we need the depth and he's been making a lot of progress. Said he will dress and travel and may play. Also talked about Reese and said he was already playing ST and will play a lot of football for GT. Matthews is learning the DE position and has a ways to go. Likes his speed and thinks once he learns how to play DE he'll be a good one. Thinks Cooper is going to be a monster once he has a year to work out.

9) Said you can't replace guys like Gathers and Hollings but we do have young guys who have ability and can make things happen. Stressed that by playing as a team we can overcome adversity and have a great season. He said we expect - not just hope - to win our games.

10) He did send a message out to you, beeware, I think he said "Bite This Big Ol' Buck"

kirbee,
Thanks for the info.
Did he mention Dixon?
Did he mention the good news on the injury to Heller or how Heller is?
What did he say about Gathers?

I didn't hear him talk about any of that. It may have been covered in the first 30 minutes. Several callers wished nice things about Greg and Tony and rehab.

BTW, I wasn't able to connect thru 790. I got the same "closed" message. I was able to connect thru GT's site.

Terr,
Thanks for the link....I went to it and it says they are currently archiving the show...so anyone that wants to listen to it can probably check back there and listen to the whole show (Not sure how long it takes before they archive it though).

If he mentioned Dixon I missed it.

He did mention Heller. Said he's not going to be back this week, but could the next for Wake. Coach.."very good news." Said he's really played well. The NFL scouts are all taking notice of him because of his blocking, size, and running ability. Great story in Heller, a once walk on. Glad he's going to be back soon.

I missed prior to the first call because of the problem on 790's webpage. Not sure if he talked about Gathers then.

Eddie Lee Ivory JR was mentioned as well. A caller asked if he was going to play RB or corner. Coach said that he's projected to play corner. He's rehabing from torn acl.

Kirbee, the DL he mentioned coming off the scout team was Pullen. Coach said that he's helping a depth issue. He's made a lot of improvement the last 3/4 weeks. Nice recap Kirbee!

Beeware, you are correct and welcome! The entire show can be heard again. Not sure how long it takes, but when I've tried back around 3ish on Thursdays in the past it's up.

A few more things I remembered and picked up:

Somebody said on the Hive that Chan said Hobie wasn't happy with the part time situation and was going to transfer.

Also Chan realizes UNC has had a week off and expects to see new things in all phases of the game.

Chan said....

...that UNC really ran the ball well against "really big and fast Texas" and is concerned about that.

...that Durant presents problems due to his unpredictability and playmaking ability.

....very pleased with the defensive effort last week against BYU's offense.

....that he interviewed each senior individually before the season and they were determined to make this year different than last, especially the defensive seniors.

In regards to HH, coach said he left without telling anyone after practice Thursday and came back Tuesday and told the coaches he intended to transfer.

Coach said that he didn't want to continue playing "part-time ball".

WHERE'S THE BEER ICON?

Another thing regarding recruiting.

A caller said that he had gotten some info from the hive (so take that for what it's worth hehe) <----not a bash on the Hive. That's just what the caller said. The info was that there is a set number for SAT being at 950 for minimum to get into GT. Coach Gailey stated that was not correct. They look at a lot of different things like GPA and extra things the student athlete does. HE stated that the administration has worked with them on a number of things in a positive way.

thanks to all for the info here... I missed the call in show this week.... sometimes you have to work at lunch !!
