It is just laughable looking at what these guys post. They have no clue what goes on here. I invite you all down to watch practice, come meet with the coaches, anything. If you were in the locker room after the game listening to the speech made by Coach Gailey you would see we have a class act man as our coach. Someone who cares about these kids greatly and someone who was there to say hey guys were still in this thing, we got a lot to still accomplish here, dont feel sorry for yourselves you got beat, we gotta get better and thats what we will do this week. These kids love him and I am proud to be associated with him. They see quotes and spin it anyway they want, but these coaches work very hard. This program is going in a great direction, we lost one game and I dont and the team, coaches, and players dont expect to lose another one. They have high goals unlike what all the buzzoffers believe. The thing is if you guys would stop complaining and check it all out for yourself you would change your point of view. This is a class program set by our Head Coach. We had a bad game everyone realized it. We read all the boards, buzzoff is set on controversy and spins it so many different ways. Earlier I saw one that said the quotes in the paper shows we lack discipline and shows how sorry of a coach we have? :laugher: How is it that a kid saying something out of frustration makes us have a sorry coach? Yes winning the games are important and I know it means a lot to these coaches but there's more to it, its about teaching these guys to be men and being there for them and that is what I guarantee our coaches do better then any in the country. We have a class act program, and fans who totally do not respect it. Buzzoffers, you are the ones getting laughed at and the worst excuses for fans I have ever seen. I really wish you all could be in the locker rooms after the game to see all these people you put down so much, especially these 18-22 year old kids who are working their butts off for something you enjoy watching, they are the ones putting in the hard work, your the ones sitting behind a computer complaining. Sorry excuse that is you my friends!

Don't take this the wrong way because I generally agree w/ you, but those kids are only getting a free education because us guys sitting behind a desk typing on a computer pay $ to go see them play...and even more $ than ever now; therefore, I have every right to say..."man, that guys sucks, isn't there anybody better?" as long as it doesn't get too personal.

Feeling good and getting warm and fuzzies after a heart-warming speech by Gailey after a pretty bad loss that the team obviously wasn't prepared for (it was worse than the score showed) is great and all, but winning is all that really matters and it wasn't a very impressive performance by any means so some people bitch, oh well.

Here here, demjackets. I'm not close enough to the program to visually see the behind the scenes stuff. I'm a 3rd gen Tech backer that doesn't miss any home games and goes to as many away games as possible with a little one.

What you wrote is similar to the feeling I get from the current state of our football program. I'm proud of the fact that Gailey seems to do what he can to enhance the guys' lives. It's easy for me to root for them when they seem to have good character. I would have some issues if I happened to be a VPI, Miami, or F$U fan.

We have our best foot forward, and we're on a slow ride to the top. I can appreciate the low speed of the journey because a good foundation is being built.

I'm going to get slammed for this, but winning isn't everything. Tech football is representative of a part of me and I isn't no thug.

Cheers.

The split in this fan base has nothing to do with the fine student athletes that choose GT. It has to do with not taking phone calls from fans on radio shows, being 0 for lifetime against your #1 rival under this coach, and not making adjustments on the field until it is too late.

During the Fla/Tenn game the announcers said that Urban Meyer stated 3 goals for his program: 1) win at home; 2) win against the 'big three' in their conference; and 3) win bowl games. Coach UM appears to have a plan that leads to the conference and national titles that fans want.

There is a ton of crap on buzzoff and some really insightful analysis and recruiting info. A coach that communicates specific goals - not 'win championships' or 'take this team to the 'next level' ' platitudes and accomplishes them will unite the fan base. I will also add, at least the buzzoffers are engaged in the success and failure of the program - you should be much more worried about those that have already checked out completely.

All you just did was enforce their mentality, not hender it. I think everyone with any credibility knows that that board in particular (hell any message board for that matter) should be taken with a grain of salt.

If it upsets you so, why do you visit it? I hate to break this to you, but there are morons out there on the web. Most football message boards are filled with these types.

Sorry but I couldn't resist, but that is one hell of a slow ride given our seemingly constant record. I'm not counting this years team out of anything, but I'm just saying, how long does it take to build a foundation and when can one expect vertical construction to begin? I hope this year will be different.

I agree that not taking calls is a problem BUT there were too many callers getting through just to say "Gailey, you suck" or worse. It wasn't productive, it made for an awful radio program for the listener, and I'm sure 790, ISP, and the sponsors were equally responsible for the new format as Gailey and the coaching staff.

I'll put it out there that the foundation is built (starting last season). Last year was the first year we only played freshman because they were too good to keep off the field & not because we have/had no other choice.

Coach Gailey always took calls on his radio show, until a few idiot fans called the show and made an ass of themselves. Hell, you could attend the shows live if you wanted, I did for both Coach Gailey and Hewitt. And last time I checked the OC and DC must make adjustments as well not just the HC.

Also, you mentioned Meyer's goals, CCG has said from day one our goals are to win the ACC and beat ugay. I would think those are similar goals for most programs out there. You think Clemson or any other programs goal is to win 7 games a year? Not trying to belittle your opinion or anything, I just have a different opinion.

Good post, demjackets. I have watched Tech football for more than a half century and have seen many ups and downs. During the Gailey era it has been up regardless of what some bbuzzoffers have to say.

Nevertheless, it is always good to see the fans - bbuzzoffers or otherwise - passionate about winning. That is just one more sign of a healthy program. As long as we see that passion in our players, all is well.

The way some folks react you'd think we're a 4-8 team. Were a good team and have a good program. I think where people get frustrated is that we haven't taken that next step to become an "elite" program. And that is the most difficult step imo. There are many teams like us that win 7 to 9 games a year but haven't made taken that next step. When the other poster spoke of foundation, it's a foundation to become a contender every year. We're already a winning program.

We had a bad game everyone realized it.
We've had 'bad games' in four of the last six that we've played, and the other two that we didn't were against probably the worst Notre Dame team since Joe Kuharich and Samford.

I hope this hardworking coaching staff is preparing these guys better for life after football than that.

Clapper,

Life after football? Just the thought sends a chill up my spine.

Getting from January to September is hard enough....

Are you knocking our other coaches now?;)

I think 'win the acc' is a platitude in that you can still lose home games and achieve your stated goals. It lacks urgency until it is too late to do much about it. I'm glad you mentioned Clemson - I looked it up and since Red Parker led the Tigers in 1973-76, only Tommy West had a worse career winning percentage than CCG. Since Bobby Dodd was at GT, only GOL won more than 60% of his games as head coach. CCG meets most Tech fan's expectations.

PS - Most fan's expectations stink.

LOL on the Clemson Props.

Charlie Pell and then Danny Ford had a nice run from 77 to 89. 13 years with six conference crowns. Hatfield got one more in his four years then West and Bowden have zero conference champs in 13 years. Bowden has three top 25 finishes in his 8 years. Do I blame the Clemson faithful for low expectations? (no.)

I expected a MNC as a student and Ross got me one. I will be sure to let Chan know that GT fans expect to beat GA. I'm sure that will be new to him.

So you EXPECT certain things as a GT fan. Care to explain more about how we get them? I mean, I'm all about winning...

I'm glad CG can stay upbeat but the fact remains we got CREAMED at HOME by a team we needed to beat to show we are in the upper level on conf.Lets see how season plays out but 8-4 is a good guess at best now.Not a whole lot of progress.

No one said they played well, but getting all personal on players is what that board does best. I didnt get the warm and fuzzies but I felt what the players felt, they were working their butts off and knew it still wasnt good enough on that day. They were prepared they just didnt perform to their best.
