Calls and non-calls played a key role

I RARELY complain about bad calls as determining a game, but there were some unbelievably bad calls and non-calls

1. FSU had a 4th and 1 on their first scoring drive, and got an INCREDIBLE spot...Even the commentators talked about it at length...FSU ended up getting the first.Replays showed that FSU actually lost yardage. This would have been huge.

2. Holding - not subtle but tackling type of holding on most of the second half passing plays. I couldn't believe the holds that were not called - in additon, many were right in front of the QB and the official.

3. FSU getting a new set of downs after being stopped inside the 5, for a penality (good or bad call this one killed as well).

---> One more point...It seemed that our D was aggressive with a lot of blitz schemes in the first half, and in the second half we went into a more basic package...ANybody notice that ? In the first half, our blitzes are what threw them off their timing...Then when we got passive in the second half, Rix picked us apart...

Overall - I am more optimistic about our program than I have been in over a year - The loss S**KS, but there are brighter days on the horizon. I bet we beat Clemmons by 3 TDs.....The Chemistry on this team is EXCELLENT

Goldrush - I am almost scared to EVER talk about officiating because I can't stand when certain fans, Ahem! Certain fans - seem to believe there is always some reason they lost, besides the fact that they were outplayed, outcoached, or what ever else may be the reason.

That being said, I don't recall three consecutive games ever being as poorly officiated as we've seen our last three.

I will say that with Bowden's popularity and influence - I really believe he inimidates certain officials into giving him what he wants. This isn't sour grapes, it just comes with being a superstar.

How many times has Michael Jordan not been called for walking and how many times have Glavine and Maddox been the beneficiary of generous strike zones?

FSU always seems to get the benefit of the doubt. BYU and Auburn - I have no answers. It happens, whether intentional or not, as you get better.

Of course, there is no doubt that a good team also creates it's own luck.
