Anyone think this will be Calvin's last and best year on the flats? I hope he returns but my gut tells me the NFL will throw too much money at him to stay in school.

Either way, what a class guy, I believe he may go down as the best WR in Tech history which is saying something.

I think it will easily be his best year. The kid is amazing, and just a good guy, but theres no way we'll have him for the '07 season, and I don't think we should. He'll have a chance to make a living doing something he loves and never worry about money again, theres no need to risk it if there was an injury (God forbid).

I would love to see a repeat performance at Clemson, and finally have him lead us to a victory at Sanford and son stadium.

He won't be back, but the only thing that can determine if this is his best year or not will be solid QB play...

Next season best for him yet? Maybe. Wouldn't surpise me since what's he's done till now is no where near what he is capable. Has to do with the abilities of the QB who's been leading our offense and the coaching.

I believe if he has any sense (and I know he has tons) he'll not be returning after the coming season.

Will he go down as the best ever at Tech? No. He'll go down as the biggest wasted talent to pass through Tech. He is a once in a lifetime talent that has almost completely slipped through our fingers.

guess that will about wrap up my days on Stingtalk. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugher.gif

How can you say that? Just because Gailey's offense never has him getting the ball? (time for the Gailey defenders to blame Ball for play selection) How many touches was that he got the last games of the season and plays called to him? Something ridiculously low. So, yep, I guess you're dead on the money with that statement...as sad as that is.

Maybe I don't understand your post.
However, if you are saying that CJ was being used as a decoy, you are nuts.
Gailey is responsible for the play calling but he isn't telling last year's qb to throw away from Calvin.

By the way, I am no CG defender.

If Reggie performs and our offense plays like it shoudl, we should wreck ND's defense. Only problem is we have a very inexperienced secondary and Brady Quinn is what I would call an above average quarterback. I can actually see a high scoring game in this one, despite out strong line and solid LB's.

Not with our offense /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

we know, we know, those two or three touches is right on the money for a player of Calvin's caliber, Gailey is the best coach ever to grace the gridiron, nothing is ever above criticism of him, yada, yada, yada.. ncjacket, the most blind optimistic of anything GT.

Nothing is more frustrating to me then watching our offense in action, knowing that on the field stands one of the greatest talents to ever grace GT and we can't (or won't?) get him the ball?!

If only calving had come pre-Gailey/Ball or in the next few years when both will be gone, man that would've been great. Guess I'll just have to follow his NFL career to see what he can really do.

So where did I say any of that? You previously posted that we didn't call enough plays for Calvin. I asked how many we ran. If you don't know just say you don't know. If you meant he didn't get enough touches we agree. What I don't know is why that happened. Was it the plays called? Was it ugag's defense taking them away? Was it Reggie or Calvin making a bad read? Was it simply a bad pass? If your complaint is the result that's fine. But if you want to talk more specifically about why the result happened you should probably actually know what you're talking about.

Besides, if you think I'm blindly optimistic you're either not paying attention or don't know what that means. Or, more likely to you, anyone who isn't 100% negative is blindly optimistic.

Historically, we play well in the first couple games under Gailey. We did at Auburn last year. Save BYU loss in '03 and we hae started off pretty well. If we can take out ND then play decent for two weeks, we could be off to a 3-0 start, when UVA comes to town on Thursday.

Fighting...urge... to...open...post..... Nah, probly dribble.

I just want to see Reggie hit Calvin IN STRIDE on a long post or fade pattern and have him take it to the house. Just once I'd like to see that!

There you go. Actually throw the ball where it's supposed to be and there's no telling what might happen.

Your dead on, why in God's Green Earth can we not hit one of the biggest, fastest players in the country in stride on a long post pattern?????? This high school JV crap of throw it up high to the tallest player and let his out jump everyone is BS.

How could little Joe Hamilton find short Will Glover or Kelley Campbell on long post patterns, IN STRIDE and Ball cannot find Calvin???

You telling me Calvin cannot out-run the Duke, Wake, or Carolina secondary???
