I was just going over opening weekend NCAA Football lines and this spread got me intrigued. I know we have tons more talent and should walk the dog with these guys, but will we be far enough along in the learning Curve for Johnson's offense to not look ragged and turn the ball over several times....

We might not even turn the ball over that much because it's an FCS defense. Our defense will probably force a few fumbles from them as well. I believe Perilloux is going to train with the team just this month (not spring).

Also, Jax State hasn't been doing great in FCS, they were 6-5 last year. They won there conference 2003 and 2004 but that was a different team. If we were playing Delaware (beat navy last year) or App State, we would be worried but not these guys.

I agree..cyp.... I am really more worried about our youth on offense and at skill positions and having the Confidence to run the offense effectively for the first few games... I would really hate to struggle with JState....

I'll take 1 point in any game!!!!:laugher:

Covering this line will mean having no more than 2 turnovers.

So no, I don't see it. Not first game.

I don't see Jax offering much resistance to our running game - esp in the 2nd half.

I also don't see Jax being able to sustain many drives. Once we get them in 3rd and long and turn the DL loose, I see lots of sacks, lots of punts and a couple pics.

I also see our punt return unit breaking some big ones.

Tech rolls. Tech covers. 2nd unit gets much needed game snaps. CPJ throws all kind of stuff out there to confuse and disorient VT film room sessions.

Since when did they post lines for games against FCS teams?

Mich/App State had a line out there of around 28-30 points. Another reason why it wasn't even the biggest upset of the year (Stanford/USC), let alone college football history.

I think we cover because we will have at least 3 QB's trying to prove they can run the offense. I think this is doubly true considering Johnson's quotes about Nesbitt's freshman year 'experience'.

Under Chan, once we got up on a FCS team, the backup QB came in to burn the clock. I think Johnson's mentality is to have your backup play like he is the starter. That will lead to a lot more points in games against FCS teams.

Finally, I don't think that Jax St is going to be able to stop any of our B-backs. So that should simplify the play calling.

I'm saying 45 - 0 TECH. Unless CPJ shows mercy then I'd say 45 - 7.

We'll cover the spread BECAUSE our team is still learning the offense. We aren't going to go into burn-the-clock mode at halftime. The play calling for our second and third string is going to be the same as for our first string.

We have to develop depth, so that means everyone is going to get meaningful plays. Not just, put in QB #2 and have him hand it off to the RB for a short gain.
