Pretty shameful really going back for years. We’ve really had an opportunity to be the standout team in the Coastal and we haven’t done it.The 5 loss champ just got blanked the week before the championship game.
We could have been the champ but that would be equally embarrassing given how bad we looked today.
Yeah, the Coastal was wheel of suck awful. But the Atlantic wasn't any better really. NC State had to win in overtime vs UNC. Syracuse was non competitive against Notre Dame.
Right now it is Clemson and the 13 dwarves.
In 2012 UGA was one play away in the SECCG from winning a national championship and we acquitted ourselves pretty well in the ACCCG a week after they manhandled us.
Nothing more id like than to go play Clemson in the acccg. Plus itd mean we were 8-4 or 9-3 having at least beat pitt or pitt and duke. That is not how the cookie crumbled this year though.
Im pretty sure all of us would rather have an 8-4 or 9-3 record and have to play Clemson again, then be where we are now at 7-5.Hell. No. There is absolutely no value to us in going to an ACCCG to get a second blasting from Clemson immediately after a complete defeat by uga unless you are into S&M type of stuff. Otherwise, just realize that your team sucks, enjoy a low stakes bowl, and move on with the hopes next season is different.
After yesterday I'd say that Jawja has a real good chance of beating Bama in the SECCG and that either Bama or Jawja would smoke Clemson. Clemson's D was horrible against USCe.
If I were a betting man, I'd place a bet of any size you like that the ACC journalists will not pick us to win the Coastal next year. They do what everyone does: previous year finish plus/minus starters returning, with a dash of recruiting rankings and brand name thrown in to taste. And on that metric, we're not likely to win the Coastal. We might be the favorite in the Coastal headed into 2019. Depending on how the new DEs shape up around Adams at NT we have a good chance at winning it.
