In '98 he RSed. In '99 he played in only 3 games, running 10 times for 35 yds vs Navy, 3 runs for 9 yds vs NC St & 2 stuffs for 2 yds vs Ga. In '00 & '01 he did not even touch the ball.
Now in '02 he is the only RB to play in all 8 games. He has carried the mail 23 times for 201 yds for an ave of 8.7 ypc with the long run being 51 yds. He has caught 12 passes for 78 yds with the long being 17.
He has also been knocked silly a coupla times (ave .25), but I don't know what we'd have done without him. He's become an integral part of our offense.
THANK YOU, YOUNG MR CLINKSCALE!

As a lot of fans have posted many times, it does little good to recruit good players to sit on the bench. A team that substitutes freely and uses all the talent at its disposal, will always improve the total team, compared to teams that are restrictive in sunstitutions.

Clinkscales, Hollings, JP, etal, did not just suddenly get that much better. Their talent just was not being utilized.

Ah,
My thoughts exactly. Gordon was released from the GOL Doghouse and he's playing well. Congrats to Gordon and kudos to Gailey/BOB for using him.

Total agreement! Gordon Clinkscale is a true
TECH man. His class and commitment will live forever along North Ave. and really epitomizes what it's all about. Character & perseverance. Nice job, GC!

"The best first carry running back in the nation" says AJC writer, Steve Hummer. Clickscale broke a 51 yarder on the 1st play of the game @ Maryland & followed that up with a 37 yd run vs Virginia on the 1st play.
Gordon followed the 37 yarder to the 7 with a 6 yarder to the 1. For some unexplicable reason the coaches brought in Daniels to punch it in. Clinkscale has never scored for GT. We MUST get Gordon a TD!

Bravo for Gordon. He is stepping up big time when called.

The coaching staff doesn't deserve any credit for using him now because they have no other options. Facts are he wouldn't be playing if we hadn't lost Burns, Hollings, Hatch, Ford.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">The reason he would have not played is because the others had beat him out.SO I would say the coaches do deserve some credit since he is being used now and there are still other choices. By the way it amazes me how much the coaches get blamed when things go wrong but get no credit when things go right. Hey someone is designing the plays and calling them for him to suceed of which he is taking advantage of and doing quite well thankfully So let's give credit where credit where credit is due.

The best thing I have heard about Clinkscale was his interview on the pregame show. Wes commented about his record yardage day @ Maryland and Clinkscale's response was that he was pissed off and sick to his stomach about the team's second half performance. And his performance in the UVA game reflected this; he certainly got the team and crowd sparked early in the game.

And he will be getting a degree soon as well. Kudos and here's to seeing him make some big plays in November (and hopefully a bowl game)!

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">bugboy,
This is factually in error. Gordon Clinkscale was interviewed extensively on the pre-game radio show and he went out of his way to say the Coach O'leary had given him every opportunity to play but he had had a various injuries and other things that put him behind other players.
This talk about O'leary's doghouse is pure fiction.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Yes SOME credit is due for putting him on the field. Especially if you consider they chose the next guy on the running back depth chart over, say, Dan Burnett. I guess they do deserve a big ol' hurrah for that one.
