CCG MT article

Nice article, This is a very good year for GT football and, although there are some issues at certain position(s) with this team, I appreciate how hard they play and what they have accomplished and will accomplish for the remainder of the year.

"This team has accomplished a great deal," said George Morris, a legendary Tech linebacker in the 1950s. "I'm proud of the football team, and I'm proud of the coaching staff. And those alumni and those fans who don't appreciate what they've accomplished, I think they need to get a life."[/quote]

If you have never met George Morris, you won't find a greater person around.

As mad as I am about Saturday, I back that quote 100%.

Great informative article. I never had heard the stories about cancelling the golf tournament or the players ranking him last year. Nothing in the AJC.

Of course, since George Morris was almost 100% responsible for the hiring of CCG, he might be more than just a little bit biased in favor of CCG.

Well George might have been instamental in hiring CCG but I have had plenty of chats with GM and there were doubts at times with him.

George Morris ....

is everything a Tech man should be, both on the field and in life.

It's difficult to argue with a Tech legend but...
But you just have to be negative about everything.
You are one of those who he refers to as needing to get a life.

I've never met George Morris personally although I have watched him play at GT. All I have ever heard of about George is that he is a top notch guy. I would tend to put him in a category with the likes of Bill Curry and others whom I doubt if all here would recognize.

For George Morris to have endorsed Chan Gailey, speaks volumes for Chan Gailey in my way of thinking. For our own poster here, J.D. to say what he has about George Morris is like a seal/stamp of approval that we all may rely on. For JD to endorse GM and for GM to endorse CCG, I think we are on the right track at GT and all we need to do is just support the program. Wouldn't hurt any of us now to post some positive stuff on this board and get this last Sat behind us. This ship is NOT sinking, it's just riding some rough waters.

Just curious LongforDodd, I assume you're longing for the Dodd from the 50s right? Not the one who went 24-18-3 from '57 to 60. Or the one who won exactly 7 games a year for 5 years from 61-65?

I long for the day I see you post something positive about this team.

BTW I assume you realize if we win Saturday it will be the 3rd conference championship Tech has won since 1952. That's right, Bobby Dodd didn't win an SEC championship the last 10 years we were in the league. So will that make you happy?

Or the one that went 0-3 against UGA in his last three seasons and 3-7 in his last 10.

Other than completely changing recruiting philosophy, running a completely different offense, and giving up playcalling responsibilities, Gailey stuck to his guns and didn't change anything.

All on his own to boot! ;)
I respect Chan, and am happy he is our head coach..finally. This is new for him and he has done a fantastic job in his first year. He will get better and better at HC of GT. I can see him here for another 10+ years, before he retires as a legendary Tech coach.

True and good...this is what it is about at this point. While I'm still sick and hurting (as we all are,) I've gotten a bit more excited about this weekend. The players have already begun their "healing" and are hopefully coming together as an even tighter unit. Fans don't have the "luxury" of getting back to practice and focusing on the upcoming opponent.

Hopefully Tech fans will come together this weekend and have a cathartic experience. We can't change it, and I wouldn't suggest to any GT player or coach that they just blew the season. We are on the threshold of meeting several goals for the season.

I'll stop now because I'm ramblin'...I'm just sorta hurting and pumped all at the same time.

That's his opinion and I guess yours. My life is just fine and you'd agree with me if you knew me.

Just the Dodd when GT was well-known for great college football - not mediocre. I'm all for excellence. That's why I'm a GT graduate and long time fan.

Ya' know what I mean?

I post positive things about us. Gailey has finally gotten around to recruiting. I just don't fool myself.

A spade a spade kinda' thing. Don't participate in circle j*rks.
