I’m surprised this hasn’t been mentioned yet. The future of CFB may be coming to fruition sooner rather than later as it relates to conference promotion / relegation. The P12 aka P2 (Oregon State, Wazzou) & MW could be the first to implement the European soccer model. This would be the domino needed to force programs to either adapt to the future of CFB or lose your spot at the table. You know the SEC, B1G are 100% on board with this potential move by the the P12 / MW.

“We have to think differently,” said one Mountain West athletic director who wished to remain anonymous. “We’re always trying to fit things in a box and we are always late to the party. How do we get in front of this?”

“It’s time we admit what college football is: an entertainment product,” said one Mountain West administrator.

CFB Promotion / Relegation coming soon?

öööö yeah. I would love that, but it would require every conference and (by extension most schools) to opt in. Plus either every broadcaster with rights would need to agree or you’d have to wait for all contracts to expire. It’ll never happen.

So wait... Somebody who works for an Athletic Department actually said this? Is this one of those "What College Football Doesn't Want You To Know" type things?

Athletic Directors hate this one weird fact
