Assuming (always dangerous) both win out in regular season, do you think Miami and Clemson will each get into the playoffs? I think, yes, if they remain impressive, and each looks good in the ACCCG. If either has a squeaker against a lesser opponent, or gets blown out in the CG, no.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Perhaps not two from same conference. But, where does that leave the "best 4" argument?

Two teams from the same conference would make the least interesting playoffs ever.
Especially if it was a rematch of the CG, which it would be in this case. Not to say that if Miami lost a close game to Clemson they shouldn't be in the playoffs but the committee wouldn't let it happen. The playoffs were implemented to prevent the 2011 season scenario again

Unlikely but possible. I think its gonna be ACC champ, Sec champ, big 12 and big 10 champs. Pac 12 left out.

Alabama (SEC Champ)
Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ)
Miami (ACC Champ)
Wisconsin (Big Integer Champ)

Except Auburn is going to be the SEC champ. Then what? 2 loss SEC champ in? What if Clemson beats Miami, both of 1 loss, and Auburn wins the SEC as a 2 loss team?

The playoffs are first and foremost a TV product. The BCS game that featured Alabama and LSU had some of the lowest ratings of all BCS championship games and drove the formation of the playoffs. The committee won’t be that dumb.

They will want to spread the teams out around the country to get better viewership. ACC/SEC will cover the south, there will be a Midwest team (probably Wisconsin) and either a west coast or a Big 12 team. That will ensure maximum TV coverage.

Lots of dumb responses in this thread. Yes of course it can happen and if not this year it will eventually.

It will be extremely hard for a 2 loss P5 team to overcome a 1 loss P5 team even if two of those teams are from the same conference.

Lots of scenarios can put a one loss ACCCG runner up Miami and one loss ACCCG winner Clemson in the playoff. They are just contingent on a lot of other teams dropping more than one game.

There's no reason at all to think that if the playoff had been in effect that both Bama and LSU would have made the playoffs that year.

Auburn would have a strong case if Clemson makes the playoffs, since one of their two losses would be to Clemson.

If Oklahoma loses one more and Ohio State beats Wisconsin, there will probably be a two loss team in the playoffs.

A lot of "ifs", but also a lot more football to be played. Too bad no great games scheduled for next week. Michigan is a 7-point underdog at Wisconsin, so that should be interesting.

Let’s talk about how we can get a 4 loss team into the playoffs. Hypothetically one who doesn’t win the conference championship, but doesn’t Lose it either!

If neither GA nor Bama lose until the SEC championship game and the dwags win that then we'll have 2 teams from the same conference this year. We all know the first 2-team conference will be the SEC. No other conference measures up, or so I'm told.

Exactly. Every conference could conceivably have a two loss champ except the Acc, if things fall a certain way. Will it happen? Probably not, but strange things happen late in the season.
