Sleeper team to watch out for in the BCS

They generally love GT, so it's not that surprising. Our final 4 ACC games are winnable (esp with 3/4 at home) and our offense is only going to get better. The line will get better and JN is going to make quicker, better reads.

They have a point. We could legitimately(sp?) win out in the conference, though unlikely. The problem lies in VT losing another game

I like their allusion to Chan. And we should be a dark horse pick where we are standing at the moment.

From what I see, our biggest weakness, personnel-wise, is the cornerback position. If we encounter a team that is pass heavy, we could be hurting without Jahi. The sooner Jahi is back, the better. Obviously the O-line is an issue, but we can still win games if our defense holds up. And the o-line should just keep getting better.

At the beginning of the season I was worried about the secondary, but now I am not. I believe the freshman have showed what they are made of and can hold their own. I am more concerned with teams nickling and diming us to death. I don't believe we will give up the homerun ball as much. Losing Jahi hurt us with depth and some quality, but I believe everybody will step up and make up for the loss. If our o-line only improves a little bit we should be fine

We could use Jahi every game, but especially for FSU, UNC and UGA. They all have tall athletic WR's and good defensive form will matter.

This is for just any BCS game, right? Not the championship? How could a team leading their division this late in the year be considered a "dark horse"? I understand the whole tiebreaker thing, but when you look at the standings right now we're on top and some would pick us as favorites to go to the ACCCG. Don't see how that is really dark horse.

Nice to get recognition though, for sure.

We're a dark horse because it's not very probable that we win out.

I don't want to jinx VT to actually win them all, but I don't see how VT with Stinespring's offense wins out. They needed two pick sixes (and a blocked FG) to keep it close with BC. BC is very good on D, but can VT expect that kind of non-offense scoring to carry them through five more ACC games?

I think the problem will be GT winning out. With an offense that is struggling to score AND prone to turnovers we have the makings of another upset loss in the mold of the VT game.

IIRC, we beat them statistically but we lost on the scoreboard. I expect to beat all four ACC teams we have left statistically but not so soundly that a bad bounce or two won't be the difference.

LSU as a sleeper? Bold pick there Zemek. Taking last year's national champ as a sleeper takes balls the size of a field mouse. Grow some testes and pick an actual sleeper!

Georgia Tech aside, I take Boston College and Oklahoma State, I know their rated #6 but no one really gives them a chance.

Luckily with our DL, it will help mask any DB weaknesses.......we hope.
That's what we thought last year against BC. If we face an OL that can slow down or DL (UVA, perhaps) or a group of officials that look the other way on massive holding (BC, last year) our secondary can be exposed. Who knows, maybe we won't face passing offense that can expose us?

I like the Chan slam myself. The oline will only get better but I tend to think the DB position is better than we think and the real concern is on the OL. If we get two guys injured we're probably really screwed. The OL has held up pretty well this year all things considered. Other than AJ missing a few games, we've had no real problems, knock on wood. If our center and guards could execute consistently, we'd be unstoppable. Seriously. When they execute we gain at least 8 yards on the play if its a run and if its a pass, the receiver is wide open with no one around him and Nesbitt has enough time to throw. Those three guys are the difference between 8-4 and 11-1.

.

Not sure what you mean by 'upset', as VPI&SU was favored by ~6 in Las Vegas.

Now if you mean that you were upset GT lost to the thugs of Blacksburg, I am right there with you.

Zemek is a moron by claiming LSU is a sleeper for the title game. He's right about one thing though - both their offense and defense may as well be asleep. Barely beating Miss St. 3-2? Barely beating SC by a touchdown?

Upset in the sense that regardless of the line, the better team did not win. If we played today we would be favored. We will find out if I am crazy because FSU is favored over VT by 6 and we play them next week so we will see what Vegas thinks of the teams vs a common opponent right now.

I am very confident that we are a better team than UVA and Miami. I think we are better than FSU and we are better than UNC right now although with Yates on the road the jury is out. But I just think we will have a bad bounce somewhere and we will slip up.

LSU isn't that good; I expect UGA to beat them

I second this notion, but apparently the spread at this moment is 2.5 in favor of LSU. Is there something that I don't know abou this LSU team? I was born and raised in New Orleans and all my home town friends (LSU fans) were exstatic that they actually won against SC. Then again, UGA did lose a good chunk of their o-line and LSU's D-line is one of the best in this country.

I can't wait to be checking the scores on my cell phone while I am at the GT UVA game this weekend. I hate both LSU and UGA, so it's a win-win for me.
