And game day coaching is not it. Regimented preparation is not it. Game day adjustments is not it. He is a one trick pony. An opportunist. A message weaver with lucky timing. He has his speech and his his sales job on Tstan masked all the gaps. He knows it. He knew it then. He knows it now. We now see it. He knows we see it. But! He cannot do anything about it. He cannot learn new skills in a reasonable time frame. He is wired for embellishment and what can be not what it takes to execute to match the vision he weaves.

He is not a bad person. He hates losing. I believe he wanted this as much as anyone . I believe his vision was and is solid. He is not an idiot. He is just one dimensional. Probably quite the opposite from being an idiot. He took a recognized though limited skill set and carved out a very lucrative life for him and his family. Also has a skilled agent helping with his career and compensation. All legal and expected in ones career. Especially 7 figure gigs. Do the best you can with what you got. No different than what most humans are wired to do. If we are honest we all to the same in our careers and roles as providers of security and fulfillment seekers. His failure to deliver will get him fired. His highly skilled pitch got him the chance.

As a fan sitting in Chicago after making Notre Dame trek and reflecting on that display yesterday it sure seems like the Peter Principle prevails again.

So we move on. He moves on. Mistakes were made. Not enough vetting for sure.

I will continue to love GT football.

I have only my opinion based on watching games unfold on a weelkly basis. Have no idea if true. Or him being a fraud? I do not think he is a fraud. That implies ill intent and I think he is not that way at all. Just my opinion based on many decades in business and having seen a lot of personalities succeed and fail based on skill matches. I also believe the program task at hand at GT and other non factory programs will be littered with failed visions.

Your definition is one of a dreamer. This is a romantic notion that most people are attracted to. However when the dream comes crashing down most people feel cheated. They are really angry with themselves for buying into the dreamer’s vision. The dreamer (our coach) still believes in his vision. The best we can hope is that this experience doesn’t leave us bitter and jaded.

I agree with the dreamer point. Not a bad thing to have big dreams. I just don’t think he is a con or fraud or idiot

I don't think he knew he was in over his head. I think he believed most of what he said, at least in the beginning.

He's just not cut out to be a head coach, and when you've aspired your whole career to get this level, I'd have to imagine learning that you're just not good enough is a bitter pill to swallow. But hey, he's a millionaire, so there's that.

I don’t think Ill intent either. Moreover I don’t think he knows that he is a bad coach. Though- it may be occurring to him now. It’s sad really.
I was willing to give him one more year and wasn’t surprised at the beat down by the hunchbacks.
Many people don’t know their limitations.

Collins is a genius. He used a bunch of talk and 3O hate to convince the majority of the fan base, and media, that this was the most historic transition in the history of football and sports. Basically guaranteeing 3 free years of catastrophic results before he would be fired.

Genius.

Why are you playing devil’s advocate every week? People say give Collins time and you start threads saying you’re done with the clown. People say they want him fired and you say “where’s your checkbook?” Make up your mind.

I’m not suing devils advocate. I’m just being realistic. He Ain’t getting fired. No matter how much blood people smear on the board.

I don’t like the situation any more than anyone else.

And post-game drunk threads don’t count.

Wanna bet a bottle? If he’s not fired before Christmas Day I owe you a bottle of your choice around $40. If he is fired before then you owe me the same.
