Reading this morning in the AJC that the Utah players noticed in the days prior to the game that the Tech players didn't want to even be there. They even went on to say that they quit just after the first quarter or so. Then Chan responds: "Quit is a pretty strong word to use by them. We didn't quit. I dare them to walk in our dressing room and tell them we quit."
Wooooooooooooo, I'm scared!!!!
Well guess what head Chan, they did quit. And I'm not going to walk into the Tech dressing room and tell them that. I am sure they would beat my poor old butt.
That is your freaking job man! You are susposed to have this team ready to play a football game. But you failed like so many times in the past.
These guys quit or never got started. If you had any sense at all, you might notice things like that. The average commoner on the street could see that.
And I would surely bet that their opponents that are out there on the field accross the line can detect the intensity of our players. Chan is just in complete denial that his regime has been a complete disaster. Why in God's name couldn't Taylor Bennett have played the second half, is a mystery to me. Ball should never take another snap at GT.
If Chan had any honor and respect for Georgia Tech, he would turn in his resignation this morning. He should be walking no matter what means it takes. Not to mention Braine.
But Chan keeps coming up with these memorable quotes. Sheesh y'all. How much more can we take of this horror movie with no ending??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wtf.gif
Thanks Chan for taking this program back to the Bill Lewis level or maybe even lower. Nice job and congratulations on the contract extension. That was brilliant.

Unless a high powered OC is hired, CG needs to go. The guy just says, and does, too many goofy things.

He does not get it.

I'm disappointed in the staff (how can we not have the right equipment/shoes for the conditions?) and the QB but "Bill Lewis level" is excessive. BL took the remains of a national championship team and turned them into a team that struggled to win against D1-AA teams. Gailey has taken an 8-4/7-5 team (in GOL's last 2 years) and stayed flat recordwise against a tougher ACC and tougher OOC schedule.

I agree that we haven't improved under CCG but we clearly haven't regressed to BL levels (is my only point).

You are probably right contact. I am not currently responsible for anything I post. I am still in a state of shock. But, wait, if we arent there yet, I promise you we are headed there and will arrive soon.

It took BL less than 2 years to get there.

Next year SHOULD be an improvement - we will be strong on both lines for the first time under Gailey. If we go through another 7-5 season (or get worse) with Gailey's best and deepest team - then I will officially jump to the other side of the Gailey fence.

And if that holds true for next year, you realize the implications for the next 4 to 5 years, right?

At least with BL, it happened and somebody acted. In this case too many are not willing to hold the proper parties responsible and are helping to hurt us for the next 5 to 10 years. And to top it off, the idiots in charge have now lead us to being put on probation for the first time ever.

We have been hearing this ever since the mistake took over as HC.

With a day to reflect I have come to the conclusion that the GT program has 'peaked' under HCCG. I do not see GT reaching that next level, 8-9 win season(s). To win 8-9 games, a team has to win one or two games it shouldn't (Auburn and Miami in '05), pull a game out that it should win (UGA) and it MUST defeat those teams it should beat (i.e. NC State at home this year).

The four-year history of the CG regime supports the argument that this will never happen. For every Miami, Auburn or Clemson is negated by NC State, Duke or Utah. This is a totally inconsistent program right now.

At the end of the past four seasons the final prognostication has been that GT is an average football program. What I am afraid of is that the program will begin to decline under CG. The offense probably will not be any better next year, what with PJ gone, RB still behind center, PN still 'coaching up(?)' RB and CG still calling plays. The defense loses most of the secondary and it's best LB and DL.

I told someone about a year ago that, although GT will probably not win 8-9 games under CG, it probably would not backslide to the point of winning 4-5 either. I'm not so sure that is true anymore.

I'm beyond frustrated, and I am out of patience. I never wanted the guy hired to begin with. I cringed when I heard the announcement, yet I have tried my best to support him as the HC of GT . Yesterday's 38-10 debacle at the hands of a so-so Mountain West team was the final straw for me. It was apparant that the team was not mentally prepared to play. Disappointments of the ACC bowl selection process and results aside, it is the head coaches responsibility to prepare his team to play ...physically and mentally. This HC failed miserably yesterday.

I haven't been saying it. Say what you want but flunkgate (and poor recruiting on the lines by the previous administration in the last couple of years) decimated both lines. Next year will be the first season under Gailey where we should be talented and deep on both lines.

Bill Lewis...

had gone 5-6 twice in a row and was 1-7 when they let him go. Please tell me how we are anywhere close to that now. Yes, it is frustrating to watch the ups and downs of some of these teams, but it is nowhere close to that. Hell, he was blown out twice by Ray Goff.

The Virginia game finally changed me from a FOCer. The nut Bowl was more lack of preparation. And when the color guy can analyze Chan's offensive shortcomings in 3 quarters, what's up with the rest of our staff?

This morning on ESPN's GameDay Lou Holtz said it well - that yes, Georgia Tech did not get as good a bowl as they deserved, but that is no excuse for being clearly disinterested and looking as though you have not practiced in a week. Holtz said that is simply a way for a 6-5 team that wants to be there to hand it to you.

BC got snubbed and came out steamed in Boise and held on for a "W". Unfortunately, our guys got snubbed, came out soft, were not ready to play until it was 20-0, wasted field position in the third quarter with offensive ineptitude, and if they did not quit, no one can say they fought hard to the finish in that 15-0 4th quarter.

Seems as though Bob Stoops and Oklahoma thought there is a big difference in winning your bowl and going 8-4 versus 7-5. For the life of me, I can not figure out why our team is to be excused for 2 to 3 games annually when strong effort is more than they can muster.

We now say there are game that we "shouldn't" win and games we "should" win. Not to toot GOL's horn too much, but we thought we'd win every game when he was here. I never went into the stadium wondering if we'd get blown out. Players were scared not to put in the effort.

GOL would have admitted the team quit and said the problems on the team will be fixed.
