Ignore Braine’s lack of leadership, ignore the lack of roster depth (chronic on the defensive line), ignore the fumbles and dropped passes, we lost to BYU and it’s all Gailey’s fault.
Tech fan's? I don't think so....
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Nothing would make me happier if CG had a great year. But what about the game made you think he was or is a great coach? If you thought he was not a great coach (at least in the BYU game) would you be less of a fan to say so?
The loss was clearly not all CG's fault, but there was very little about the game plan that made me think this guy is a good coach. I don't expect to see us go undefeated this year, but that's because of roster depth not coaching inadequacies.
Where were the adjustments on the defensive side to the way our zone was getting murdered? Why was our offensive game plan completely devoid of passes up the middle until it was too late? Why were we having costly penalties to keep their drives going? Why weren't the kids fumbling getting chewed out on the side lines?
As you clearly are a "true" Tech fan and obvious football know-it-all, please explain to me why we should not be disappointed in the coaching for the BYU game.
And don't give me this crap about we don't have enough guys. CG knows we don't have enough guys. A simple offense is a coaching blunder precisely because we don't have enough guys, especially on defense.
I was on the support CG train until the BYU game, but am not so completely enamoured in my support to not see any issues with coaching.
You state "But it's funny to me to see so many who claimed to be sitting on the fence before the start of this season now bashing the coach after the first game." What's really funny is to see so many people so adherent to a coach, they exhibit blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance.
There were clearly coaching issues in the BYU game. If you can't see it, then you've got issues.
