Gojackets.com is showing Chris Jackson as a soft verbal. Am I wrong or has that changed from a full committment? Someone with more knowledge in this area (Mustang/Hivered/etc) please clue me in.

If a committed player decides to visit another school, he's immediately reclassified as a "soft verbal" by scout.com. Earlier this week, Jackson decided to visit Alabama this weekend, so his status was changed.

The last time he spoke he said he was firmly committed, and nothing has been said to change that one or the other. Hopefully he'll make an official statement this week after talking to CPJ....

Jesus Christ at least let our new coach talk to you first before you go off to other visits. God dammit! Commitments aren't worth two rat craps anymore.

Shoot, I don't blame him.

Agreed. We changed the situation and in doing so, could have changed whether he fits into the system. He's simply being smart and checking his options before other schools fill their classes and he gets stuck going somewhere he has very little chance to play. All of the recruits will need to be re-assured.

yea like i know that next year taylor wont be as involved in the offense. they will let josh run it bcuz he fits in with johnsons style. renfree wouldnt fit either cuz he is a dropback qb like taylor is.

I believe it was G. O'L that made the statement once, if a person doesn't want to play for GT, I don't want him on my team.
May not be an exact quote, but that was the gist of his statement and I agree.
Let's not get too torn up about players jumping ship right away since
first, we don't know for sure if they are going to yet, and
second, if they don't want to be a part of our program, let them get out of the way. There'll be someone either as good or better who will eagerly take their place.
When our football team used to seem to quit during a game, I would wonder how much of a commitment they really had.
Someone used to post here with the signature "LEAD FOLLOW OR GET OUT OF THE WAY". I think this is a good time to drag some feet up to the fire for the test.
In my feeble mind, it doesn't matter how many stars a recruit has next to his name or how he is rated with his peers, he can either get with our program or get lost and now is the time for him to make that decision. I hope Paul Johnson does not let any of them hold him hostage during this transition time.

I don't think so !!!!!!!!
