Any news on this guy? I haven't heard his name come up in quite some time. I know he was a Redshirt last season, but i was thinking this guy was supposed to be the next Vad Lee or something...
 
There was some news a few months ago, but it wasn't what I wanted to hear. He wants to get on the field and thinks he has a better chance at safety, IIRC. He has the coaches' blessing to make the move. On the plus side, they say he can be really good there.

Philpott would be an awkward looking safety, but that would be awesome to have someone of his size in the defensive backfield

Maybe , kinda like the return of Ken Swilling from the '90 MNC team?
 


Oops! I think you're right. The promising quarterback is the one moving to the defensive backfield. The receiver is still a receiver, but has been injured a lot.
 
As I recall, part of the reason Campbell made the position switch is because he broke his hand and was falling behind with learning the 3O because he couldn't really do the ball handling work while he was healing.
